I went straight from random generic bags to Balenciaga. Right now I have a very small collection in enough basic colors (black, brown, bordeaux, red) that I don't feel the need to buy any more bags.

But if I do want to expand the colors that I carry, it would be another bal.

I just recently gave all my Coach bags to my daughter. Recently at an outlet near Palm Springs, there were lines out the door at Coach. Amazing. I don't own the bags, but my Coach stock is doing really well.

Oh my gosh! I experienced the same thing there!! I saw a cute little wristlet but wasn't willing to wait in the lines to pay for it, so I walked away.

I have a Coach bag but only used it for a month because it just wasn't me. Sadly, I paid full retail for it and now it just sits in my closet... I haven't bought any Coach things since and I'm not sure if I will or not.

My first designer bag was a Marc Jacobs. It was too heavy for me, so when I found Balenciaga I loved how lightweight their bags were and made the switch

From reading many of the posts here, I see that many started with one designer, then moved on to other designers as the years wore on. I started with Dooney, then Coach, but no longer own any.

What about you?

(Wait for the poll...)

You can choose multiple options.

I am the same. I guess that is why we are friends.... My first designer bag was D&B and then Coach. I then moved onto Gucci then to LV and a Chanel..

The little coach demi was my very first designer bag.... I didn't even know what is was at the time.

Well, that one gift started a very expensive addiction.....I have greatly expanded the brands I purchase now. Although I don't have specific ones I buy I look for a well constructed bag, usually in leather, (the signatures don't do anything for me anymore.)

I do buy coach still, but usually at the factory (boutique transfers) or on sale at dept stores. I think they are a bit overpriced now from what they used to be. I just can't see spending $600 on coach....

I started with LV many many years ago.

I haven't purchased any LV in a long time and I don't use the LV items that I have anymore.

Now days, I much prefer Mulberry, Prada, Chloe and YSL.

Great thread! It's funny how a lot of us started with lower cost bags and gradually moved up in price scale..I remember the days when I would NEVER think of buying anything over $1000. LOL now I think that's a great sale price!!! I too started with Coach years ago but haven't bought anything in years. I still have a black lether bag that is wicked cool, has the original CC lining and is accessorized w/ fobs and stuff to the hilt. I keep it and use it only when I'm in my leather for the bike...it looks so cool!! :) I sold my other bags a long time ago. I still buy Coach for gifts though.
