Which brand have you moved on from and why?

I would never recommend Charles Gross to anyone. He has no real fashion knowledge. His videos have gotten worse, and he hardly reviews bags anymore. He's a poser.

I lost all respect for him when he went to Michael Kors, bought a bunch of handbags to "review", and then returned them knowing full well that he would never keep them. Those sales associates work on commission, and I was disgusted at what he did. Besides, in order to review anything, you have to actually use the product. On top of that, he HATES MK with a passion so his opinion is already biased. The brand was never going to get a fair shot. I REALLY dislike Kanye West so I will tell anyone in a minute to ask someone else's opinion about his music as I am unable to do so. I don't even have him on my blog. Not fair to him or my audience.

+1! He seems to only like people that have Birkins. He is NOT bougie...at all.

I will be honest...I'm not a fan of MK but what he did was absolutely terrible. While watching the video I couldn't help but think about the poor SA that sold him the bags thinking they made amazing commission and built a relationship with a new customer. And what if the SA actually watched that video. What he did was WRONG in every way.

Sorry! Back to topic!

Brands I've moved on from:

Louis Vuitton: After getting the Petite Malle nothing really seems to appeal to me anymore except the Ready-To-Wear by Nicolas Ghesquiere, but I can't afford that AND I'm not a woman so...lol.

Goyard: I'm not gonna sugarcoat this...the canvas just sucks. Terrible canvas. I've had bad experience with all my Goyard items.

Dior: Only since Raf Simons left. I loved his work at Dior and was sad to see him go. But now Maria Grazia Chiuri from Valentino is taking the reigns and I'm super excited!!

Hermes: I'm too young for their simple designs. I feel like Hermes bags always look so "forced" on me. I just like things that are young, colorful, and fun! But I will say their leather and craftsmanship is quite amazing. The bags will unfortunately never suit me. I've accepted that and moved on from the brand. I will only admire from afar.

Coach: I LOVE the older/vintage Coach bags. My moms older coach bags always put a HUGE smile on my face. The newer designs from them don't do that to me anymore, but I do like the new Dinky crossbody!

Marc Jacobs. I loved his original line with the thick soft Italian leather. Now, it's hard to buy something that is very expensive and made in SE Asia with no recourse for after-sale service repairs.

Michael Kors Collection. Same reason as Marc Jacobs. My first bag was the Scorpio line. Love the smooth calf leather with braided handle. Now it's hard to find one with the same quality leather.

I'm on the fence with Prada. Well, I used to think that I have moved on from Prada (have a few from the 00's) but lately I'm been wanting them again except their saffiano line. I don't like hard embossed leather.

I moved on a very long time ago, but I'd have to say Coach and LV. These were 2 of my very first designer bags.

1. Coach - my first "name brand" bag back in the 90's...or maybe 80's. When all were leather with the little tags that hang off of them. Very high quality, now, seem to be more siggy, and less quality, but I got off the coach train soon after I got on after I discovered Dooney & Bourke, my first real [Designer Bag] Love.
2. LV - my first luxury brand, or one of the first, was an Ellipse bag...or maybe it's an eclipse, way back in the day. I still have it. I thought the monogram was kind of cute [when I was young, naive, and interested in EVERYONE knowing what brand I was wearing] but now I've grown up, and grown out of mono / siggy styles. seeing all these mono and siggy bags everywhere is just plain annoying now. I'm so over mono, I think it's quite tacky, unless it's more covert, and not just "in your face." I'd rather have bags with no identifiable label on the outside, or one that is extremely small or hardly noticeable.

I always feel like all bags with mono, will let anyone know what you are carrying but a designer bag with no marking will only be noticed by someone who knows fashion and designers

There is very, very little signature in Coach bags of today.

Only seen siggy at the outlets.

And they're really phasing that out too.

Maybe by location?
I saw whole sections last week.
The half moon hobo looks really popular this year.

Not sure where you guys live, but where I live that's all I see. Outlet stores have all siggy in the windows, I see many siggies at regular Coach stores in the mall, and I also see ppl EVERYWHERE all carry siggy Coach [and MK, and mono LV]. And I travel...A LOT, and see them basically everywhere, Chicago, Milwaukee [local], NYC, ATL, TX, STL, DC, MN and these are only places I've been in the last 6 months or so.

I guess to be fair I would have no idea what a leather Coach is, but I do know the siggies, and I do see them....A LOT!!!

There are some sold at outlet stores, none in Coach stores.
On Coach.com there is 2 bags out of 16 pages of bags that are siggy.

I forgot to add one brand I've moved on from - Betsy Johnson. I loved some of her bags because I like bows. Now I think Blech. To me, most of her stuff looks poorly made and the taste level is questionable.

I agree, she's obviously targeting a younger, flashier market. Although I did notice a lady in her 50's/60's entering a restaurant last weekend with a tote with a huge sequined bow on it that couldn't help but catch my eye (I love sparkly things, just not on my bags!). My first thought was that it was a BJ bag. Can't confirm, just a hunch:p I do find some of her smaller accessories can be cute however and would consider those.

Coach has a huge line of beautiful leather bags, not just siggy's anymore. Some are quite tasteful and beautiful, they just don't get me excited enough to buy them.

Maybe it's an midwest or suburban thing because I live in Orange County and work in los angeles and haven't seen someone carry a siggy bag in a long time. I go to Vegas every three months and haven't seen skgnature bags being carried there recently. I was in utah last month and noticed one siggy bag which I remembered as the first time I had seen someone carry them in a long time. I know that coach stores have very few siggy pieces and the last time I was at the outlet (in june), I noticed maybe 40% of their items were signature and more grosgrain leather pieces. I ended up picking up a leather piece, myself.
