Where to place bag when in restaurant?

I like to sit in a booth at a restaurant so that it can sit right next to me. i don't like those table and chairs restaurants. otherwise it sits right behind me (literally) like a bag cushion

Either in an empty seat or on the floor if there is no room. I've never ruined a bag putting it on the floor! I know some people don't mind hanging it on the back of the chair.. but too me that's saying "HEY COME STEAL MY PURSE!"

I have a little folding (coiling) purse hook that stays in my bags- it lets me hang it right under the tabletop. It won't help for tonight, but may be something to look into- there are a lot of great, compact ones.

I usually carry quite large bags, so lap is out of the question. If no chairs are available, I will put it between my feet on the floor - fortunately I've never been to places with dirty floors :D

I ran into this problem last night when I went out to dinner with my boyfriend and his family.
There were 6 of us all together, no extra chairs, and my purse was too large to put it on the table (if it's a casual place and there's enough room, I see nothing wrong with doing so). I tried to hang the straps off the chair, but it kept slipping off so I just set it on the floor. Not really the best solution, but we weren't there too long.

My advice? Put it your lap if you can. But if you're really that stressed, just bring a different purse. You don't want to miss out on a fun dinner by worrying.

Pursehook. The cafeteria where I work is crowded and the floor can be filthy, so I wouldn't dream of sitting my bags on the floor. My son bought me a couple cute pursehooks for a gift last year and they really come in handy!

If there's no extra chair, I just place it on my chair right behind me. It doesn't give me a lot of room to sit - usually just right on the edge of the seat but it beats placing it on the yucky floor.
