It's definitely a cultural thing too.
I know koreans don't wear shoes in their house and that's what I was raised to do.

I do not wear shoes in the house or in anyone elses even when they tell me its ok to leave them on.

As for the purse it goes behind me on the seat if there is not another chair for it. I need one of those hooks.

I'm just curious as to what you ladies do with your handbag when you eating out?
I usually have mine on my lap. I'm always worried of theft since i know alot of people that have had their bags stolen when it was hanging at the back of the chair. When i go to the movies I try to wear a cross body so that i don't even have to take it off.
What are your other advice do you have to protect your bag in similar situations.

I use a purse hook and keep it close to me. I don't worry about people stealing my bag because nobody wants to get that close to the 200 lb dog that is with me.

Like your answer BDP :smile1: I hang it off a purse hook if available or keep it on my lap. Am too nervous to put it down on the floor in case of purse snatchers.

I either hang it on a purse hook next to me, or put it on an empty chair next to me. Usually if we are near a wall, post, or something, I put it in the corner chair.

I got my purse hook at bcbg. it was only $10. very simply design, not too flashy, very light weight. easy to carry - and not a distraction at the table! keeps my bags clean AND safe! try one out- you won't be unhappy

I usually keep it in my lap [or on the back of the chair, with the purse touching me if it can, so I can feel that it's still there]. If it's a bag I'm ok with putting on the floor, I'll place it in between my legs.

i use a purse hook as well.

i first saw it with a very good friend of mine and was amazed as to how great they were.... was given one by her as a gift and have been 'hooked' :p ever since.

i love them

There's a hook you can buy to hook it on the edge of the table for your bags. Some restaurants even provide these hooks for you but I've only received it once from the waitress. I would only use it for big bags but for small bags, I just put it on my lap. Worse case scenerio if it can't happen, then it has to be the floor.

If it has longer handles I hang it over my knee under the table.
My friend just had her handbag stolen in a restaurant so I am paranoid to leave it on floor or on back of chair...hers was taken off back of chair.

I always place my bag on an empty chair next to me or if there are no extra chairs then I unfold my napkin, place it on the floor and then set my bag on top. My girlfriend uses a plastic grocery bag she carries with her and sets it on the ground and then sets her bag on top of that. I never put it on the back of my chair because the waitstaff continually knock it as they pass.
