I don't understand why people need to "collect" dozens, if not hundreds of Birkins and Kellys. They're so rare and hard to get, that it makes it harder for everyone else to get them.
Unfortunately, fairness is not the goal in the realm of luxury. You're not alone in feeling that way. When I first started purchasing, I would always wonder why people would want to collect the same style 100x. Now that i've been in it for a few years, the relationship with the brand gets easier (more offers, more often), new and exciting colors come around, so it can be hard to stop craving more!! But not everyone is like that. My mom is happy with the small collection she has. She doesn't desire to have more than a core collection of 1x per model

I am really sorry this cyber bullying happened to you. What a petty individual.
💯 agree with @nikotama , @MacawGuy :D The ignore button can be useful too.

UO: Hermes corporate also seems to think it’s more fair (irrespective of tenure or prespend) that newcomers to the brand get an opportunity to obtain a QB rather than simply enabling big collectors to buy another. I would guess it’s not popular among long tenured, high spending regulars 😂

Back in the day, women of means didn't "collect" every bag they could get their hands on. Grace Kelly had two Kellys.

Sure, but things change. Luxury evolves. Consumption habits have shifted as the world became more connected. Just because Grace Kelly had 2 bags, doesn't mean other wealthy folks limited themselves to that. Wealthy people did hoard luxury in excess. We just get to see it now that they're on social media.

UO: I find it jarring to see teenagers carrying H bags. I can't put my finger on why it looks off to me, though. I've seen teens with other premier bags and it didn't feel so out of place.

Edit: As I think about it further, perhaps it's the shape of the bags or the simplicity of them. They feel too serious for a teen somehow.

IMO the H model of prespend in other categories in order to get a BKC actually devalues their other product lines particularly in regards to their jewellery. I recently tried to sell a pair of white gold earrings that I purchased for 2k. When I went to one of the resellers they told me that it is worthless and would not even offer me anything! To me that does not scream luxury

💯 I don’t assume the world was privy to everything a woman owned back then. ;) I have no idea what Grace Kelly or Jackie Kennedys closets looked like, but I would have loved to have seen them lol.

Grace Kelly famously wore the Kelly to disguise her pregnancy. Which, UO, indicates, it wasn’t her top choice of bag. At that time, Hermes was heritage and the styles, colors etc were pretty classic from year to year.

When I recall all the stuff my own mom had, at least 1960s-80s, it was quite a lot. She thought Hermes bags were for grandmothers. And I remember my grandmother had exotic bags and shoes to match different outfits.

Having said that, premier brands today have realized that with social media their reach is amplified. And the more novel and limited (limited edition) something is, the more desirable. So there is a lot more variety on the fashion buffet :)

UO: I don’t need and don’t have the budget for enormous quantities of luxury items, but whatever one has, so long as they can afford and enjoy, why not. . . But, I’m not the target demographic for a high end exotic or fancy bag either.

This has been going on for some time. I don’t know that you can completely blame the pre spend but the many clients who buy pre-spend items purely to get a bag. We’ve seen these multiple clients in Facebook groups resell huge numbers of their prepend items. It has slowed a little since last year. I recommend going to a corporate reseller like fashionphile or real real. Jewelry resale has been really hot and items have been been selling quickly. Things I’ve been watching don’t even make it to discount. My guess is people are tired of bag prices which have gone up far too much. So this is to say you might at least get an offer from a corporate reseller.

My unpopular opinion is H needs to expand their cutlery choices. Exactly how are you supposed to hold a fork or spoon when there’s a big hole at the end?

I just got a brand new Kelly ring for $1,500, so I think you have to discount around 60 percent to be able to sell jewelry directly in those groups.

UO: I am fine with the occasional reseller that buy items when it seems that person was really going to wear, but couldn’t do it because the person needed the volume for the bag and it was a lot, and the person actually liked the items. It annoys me a bit these people that buy multiple chypre, Kelly belts, Orans, same colors, same sizes and that the brand keeps rewarding these people with multiple bag offers. It is on the brand, not the buyers, because they could curb the practice if they wanted to. This reselling business became so sophisticated that I saw a jukebox and a sofa on resale in these groups, and multiple pieces of high jewelry…a necklace for $500k discounted from a million. A Himalaya diamond Kelly belt.
I guess I shouldn’t complain about the resellers because I am an enabler and buy a lot from them 😅, I love gifting new Kelly belts that I got at $800-900…
I do love the scarf ladies because they truly love their scarves, it is very endearing to see.

Scarf Lady here.
Having amassed about 140 Pieces of all sizes and colors I bought 3 silk scarves from Longchamp as a much prefer them to the H scarves from the recent and upcoming collections.

I feel a bit like a cheater, but I like the colors, the patterns (the sorted veggies remind me of the potager de Villandry), the silk is nice and the prices not as obscene.
Since Bali Barett left the colorways and most of the designs don't sing to me.
Still love to wear my old and broken in ones.

Another unpopular scarf opinion:
I don't mind some pulls and imperfections, this means I will wear them relaxed without worrying much.
These precious things have to work once entering my household!
