What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

A Chanel Minaudière is much much much more beautiful than a Himalayan Birkin, crocodile or the Picnic Birkin.

I feel that the Minaudière pieces are true masterpieces and Hermes fail to produce Real Limited Edition pieces such as these.

I do love the cargo though however cargo is just a bag.

The phrase “It’s not a bag it’s a Birkin” is so passé now and for me I covet a Minaudière which I feel is more difficult to source from the store unless you are a VVIP.

Any bag style from Hermes is readily available … the Minaudière isn’t.

I don't understand why people need to "collect" dozens, if not hundreds of Birkins and Kellys. They're so rare and hard to get, that it makes it harder for everyone else to get them.

Completely agree with the collection of dozens of bags

My unpopular opinion … I don’t think these bags are that rare anymore nor hard to find … everything is available in the resale market

Yes I would prefer to purchase from the store but when prespend is factored into the overall cost those who just want “the bag” end up spending same as resale.

I hate it when people ask me to find them a brand new Kelly/Birkin from the boutique for retail price only ! I guess they want me to play the game , buy a bunch of stuff and then willingly give them the bag that was offered to me for the sole reason that I have plenty of Bs an Ks so giving away one of my 2 quote bags won't hurt me because we are friends .

I’ve had this too ….

Hilarious when people say you have enough Hermes bags can I use your quota ????

Errrrr NO !

UO: Any bag can be casual, yes, even a Kelly sellier 28 or 32. Here my most lady like bag 28K quadrille and my most traditional one 32 K sellier prunier.

UO: PHW, though currently not as popular, helps modernize the look

UO: you can carry a larger 32 sellier even if you are short 5’2” and size 36/ US 4-6 (Though when K32 retourne was the signature size in 2008, I only wore 28BBK sellier lol)

UO: you can wear a sellier K with anything you want. If you are unsure, try it with denim jeans and a white button down shirt, t shirt, or tank top first

UO: while there is a trend towards bigger bags, a B25 sellier IMO will be a modern classic

@Build-a-B-K-collection, 💯 agree. Only person you should do this favor for is one whom you would gift a Kelly to, like your mom :)

I wish I could wear a Chanel minaudiere, but they end up wearing me. It looks forced. I think they look best on someone young and fashionable; or older with gravitas. JMO. Since a stunning limited edition one is not in my future, that’s life ;)

Ha ha … I’m not young or fashionable nor older with gravitas lol 😂

I like to refer to Minaudière as gorgeous event bags

UO : I’m going back to Chanel after purchasing Hermes for years! They seem exciting to me at the moment.

I’m listening 😂

Hermès seems to have started releasing new bag styles more regularly now, with some drops almost immediately selling out in stores. It feels like they’ve moved toward a more standard two-seasons-per-year model. While many customers are excited about the newness and variety, I can’t help but feel that this shift A) makes the overall offering feel less timeless, and B) pushes the iconic, coveted bags even further out of reach for loyal—but not ultra high-spending—clients.

I casually chatted to a store manager, and she said that Hermes is changing alongside their clientele and wants to appeal to younger and more dynamic audience (particularly saying that Della Cavaleria is there to offer a modern solution to the Constance bag which hasn’t changed since 60s). I feel like these are connected, but still don’t see how multiply new styles per season at that price point will help to keep Hermes to be the timeless brand.

Unpopular opinion … I don’t understand why people give there bags names (sorry 😬)

Why not just say black bag, black Kelly, black Birkin ?

Maybe i don’t have enough in my collection 😂 to name my bags !!!

Ps I’ve catching up on all the chat today in months lol hence all the messages x
On the contrary I think it's probably because I don't have a large collection that I'm guilty of this (sorry!).

I have quite a few bags in total, but only two H though and one Birkin (Brigitte) as to why? Well DH nicknamed one I had previously so when this one came along I felt she (sorry there I go again, she's probably gender neutral!) needed a name too!

I kind of see her like a pet, my rather old (and in my opinion cute) car has a name too. None of my other bags or DH's much fancier car have names however and I'd feel weird naming new cars / bags.. somehow older battered ones (of both) I have more affection for so they've earned it!

I can't speak for handbags, but in the UK at least, I don't think it's that unusual to name a car... unless I just have a lot of weird friends (ok, thinking about it I probably do!!).

I love this discussion because I name all my bags! Except my Evelynes, apparently. A friend pointed out that I call them all Evie and they don’t have their own identities :giggle: Whoops! My husband named my beige marfa Mini Lindy “Barfie” and it stuck

UO: It’s weird when people don’t name their bags!

My latest UO - it’s not a luxury experience when you have to pay shipping fees especially if you’ve spent over 2000. I mean really? Couldn’t figure out how to cut the budget any other way but instead nickel and dime clients?
This might be a popular opinion. I had to stop by the store to pick up two twillies the other day as I am too cheap for pay shipping for that. At least, I brought my pup to entertain everyone. :)

Lol! Totally agree. I told my SA to split up my order and ship on 2 separate days so I could get free shipping.

UO- with all the price increases, tariffs, shipping fees, and higher pre-spend with all these higher prices now, there’s not much left to squeeze. I’m drying out!

I go to lots of events and I rarely (if ever) see Chanel or Hermes bags. I generally see miniaudieres and H bags in restaurants, private clubs. In some galas in London I’ve seen miniaudieres. In very fancy events, never.

Same here, I have paying shipping. I will pay double, triple and fill up the cart with stuff I don’t care about so I don’t have to pay shipping 😅
