What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

Hermes needs to make more cotton silk blend scarves for those of us living in hot weather areas but still deal with AC... you only make 1 design a year Hermes and it's always in the men's section! Step it up!
In addition to this...why are there so many more neutral/easy to wear styles in men's scarves? I'm not imaginative enough to work really bright color combos into my wardrobe, so the blues, grays, and greens are really useful day to day. And the 100x100 format is such a good size! At this point half my cashmere/silks are from the men's section...which leads to my earlier unpopular opinion, scarves and bags should not be gendered, it makes no sense.

LOL, I'm over 60 with gray hair. As I've aged, yellow gold looks less complimentary on me, and I've gravitated to rose gold more and more. I also have always worn a lot of white gold/platinum, but I'm pretty much only wearing the yellow gold because I have it. My older sister wants to sell all her yellow gold for similar reasons.
I'm in my 40's, not grey (yet) but I have an odd skin tone and I feel the same way about rose gold being more flattering. I never wear yellow gold a) because it doesn't flatter me and b) because when I was growing up, big stacks of yellow gold were the standard "flashy" jewelry - I just don't like how it looks. I love white metals but there's something about a metal that's plated just to be a different color than what gives it its value...just seems odd to me? I wish more things were available in platinum.

Interesting,
I too am over 60 with Grey hair but not had the same problem.
I still find Yellow and especially white gold work better on me than 'modern' rose gold That said I don't wear earrings so maybe I'd feel differently then.
Back on topic...
Still on the age theme however and pertaining to an earlier post about the Bolide being an 'old lady bag'.
I think style has no age (I've always thought this even in my 20's when I was a fashion student..I always admired impossibly chic older women).
And Hermes has always been perceived of as a stylish and to my mind ageless brand (as opposed to say Miu Miu which is definitely best on younger women JMO).
I know a 98year old who wears beautiful co-ordinated clothes and bags, always sports a manicure and pedicure and the only Hermes bag she wears is actually an Evie TPM because she walks with a stick, its X-body and most importantly relatively lightweight and can be worn underneath a large Max Mara coat so she feels safe from muggers going out.
The same person who made the Bolide comment probably considered the Kelly and Constance 'old lady bags' before they became the must be seen with accessory.
I will add here that until I reached my 40's I personally always considered The Kelly,Constance, and Trim styles were more mature and somehow sophisticated and therefore more suited to an older client base BUT I would never deem them 'old lady bags'.
Back in the day when I got my first Birkin, I thought I was a Birkin girl and that Kellys were - not at all old lady bags - but very buttoned-up and conservative. That went right out the window when I got my first Kelly and now I think I'm more than 2:1 Kellys to Birkins

Here's what may or may not be an unpopular opinion....I absolutely hate when people post asking "does this bag make me look too mature?" or "is this color/hardware too mature?". I mean - ask if the bag/color/hardware is too neutral, too conservative, too upscale for your lifestyle, not fun enough - but don't act like "mature" is a bad word. It's better than being immature  and if by "mature" you mean "older", well, no bag is going to make you look older, I would worry more about your sunscreen strategy ;)

I like the term “grown up”.

Yes! I completely reject the Am I too old/am I too young line of thinking. I embrace the I feel like myself or don't feel like myself... Of course, this means knowing myself and who I want to portray through the H bags at multiple sizes and styles I carry or not carry. (See how I am trying to keep on topic??? HAHAHHA)

Unpopular opinion 2002 bag is marvelous. I pulled mine into rotation and am wearing it as a shoulder bag versus my initial use of it as a cross body. I will admit I bought it when the constance was a distance wish years ago. Now I have both and am delighted.

Then to show you

Horrible not me dress my DH bought me. I chopped off mock neck, sleeves and turned backwards and inside out to get rid of yucky ruching

Not me < me with marvelous and underrated 2002

In the early years of my H love I collected/purchased because it made me feel like a member of a club that I didn't actually feel like I belonged too - wealth and a sense of made it - important for an immigrant kid who grew up in WASP country. Can we talk about the VCA/Chanel/H uniform situation?

Now I have what meets my needs, I no longer purchase.... as far as I know for now. :)

You always have a great personal style.

And speaking of the "uniform", I first noticed it at my former store back in 2018. And it has now evolved into a costume at the boutique. I don't think they dress that way in real life because the B carrying people don't dress like that just a few buildings over.

The UES of NY trifecta lol
Seen all over the narrow strip between about 66th st and 57th st, Park Avenue to Fifth
Lately, there is a lot of Dior TDJ thrown into the mix
Hahahaha!!!

And no shade to anyone with the uniform. I have it too!

Earrings are VCA, and I added my H Kelly bracelet and love cuff inherited from my mom for good measure

Pants are tibi pleather and mules are H, jacket is Chanel…. Bag needs NO introduction. It was my nod to Lao Po dressing - must have red bag

Yes! I would like to normalize dressing as oneself always. I think of Paris dressing at its best as this.... and @880 too

I've crossed over the line, and have bought several men's scarves through the years. I tend to dress mostly in black, gray and white, with splashes of pink and red at times, so the men's scarves tend to suit my style more.

This thread is soooo much fun. Not sure how unpopular opinion this is- but there many many ‘types’ of H customer. There are those who love strutting their hermes exotics and bright colours with (or without) Chanel jackets and VCA jewellery - and others who are only into vintage Hermes, faded Levi’s and ‘only’ wear neutrals. There are those who love the bolide but would not consider a plume (and vice versa) it’s a mixed bag, pun intended. (LOL) then of course there are those who ´only’ like the Kelly or the birkin - any colour but small size please- and refuse to even look at any other offerings. Unless it counts as pre spend…

Tell me more about the uniform - do you think every ‘type’ has a kind of uniform?

I'd love to contribute to this..
Are you starting a separate thread so we don't go OT ??
