Agreed… and may I say it’s kind of how I feel about the mini Lindy. I know I know… SCANDALOUS! I’m sorry to those who love that bag but to me the whole appeal of the original Lindy was that folded ‘fortune cookie’ shape. The casual but glorious representation of soft leather and how it folds. The mini can’t do that and looks soooo different. Its essentially a different bag to me. The mini feels like an afterthought to bank on the mini bag trend. Obviously they succeeded. Maybe I’m just saucy that they didn’t make the 26 with a crossbody strap option.

And now please pass me the shovel for the grave I need to dig for myself.
I feel the exact opposite. I hated (and still hate) the dumpling-ness of the bigger Lindys, which I why I never bought one. However, I have a ML touch Gold on Gold that I liked for the first month of owning it. I think Mini Lindys look cute on their own, but not on any person.

Lately the fine jewelry line seems uncreative. How many times can you add a lock to jewelry? I am confident that H has amazing designers, yet why aren’t they creating innovative designs? For the price point, there should be some effort into it. Not all of us want a kelly or birkin on jewelry (not judging, I have a birkin diamond pendant ) Just wish there were more authentic designs than b/k jewelry

To add onto that….I feel the same way about the shoes. Seems like they just slap on a Kelly buckle on every shoe and call it a day…..

I think they have enough Kelly buckles to cater to those that enjoy that look. I think for every shoe style they should have one style that doesn’t bear the house icons but just has an interesting design

it’s a kelly-Constance shoe challenge. I like the loafers with the big H but do not purchase them bc of the big H. they can be iconic without the H on top and those who know would know. Example is the cc sling back or flat ballerina. No need to have cc, it’s just known.

Well, the fine jewelry and shoes deparments are both under Pierre Hardy's direction so... :P

I do not get the Lindy, any size. Looks like a bunch of (beautiful) leather thrown together in my opinion, but obviously fits the casual lifestyle perfectly. Soft, no structure, no corners, no need or the chance to dress up it up - the sweater + sneakers style embodied in a bag.

You can probably tell that this style is not for me though , I personally love a dressed up, tailored not oversized but put-together look or something edgy combined with a kelly or bolide, even if I have to compromise slightly on “comfort”.

But to each his or her own, isn’t this the beauty of our age?

the style confounds me with respect to the strap. On the larger sizes the handles at the end attached to the single strap seem to work together. But on the mini the handle attachments plus long thin crossbody strap look odd. I would like to see a more substantial but shorter strap. And I think the width of the bag doesn’t help. I can appreciate the larger size lindys but Everytime I look at the mini lindy I don’t think it hangs in a complementary way crossbody. The strap is too long and think it sticks too far out from the body.

Not an unpopular opinion, but perhaps more of an unpopular behavior:

If I'm carrying a recognizable H bag, and then we start taking photos, I prefer to not have my bag very visible in the photo. It just veers into gauche for my own personal behavior, and I believe that it'll be the focus of the picture instead of the event, or the moments I'm having with family and/or friends. As much as I find myself wanting to post in threads like the Your Hermes in Action, or others where modshots are the norm, I find myself having trouble with it.

I wouldn't say it's a confidence thing. Just an off-feeling.

Time to message my therapist, I suppose!

Thoughts?

Interesting point.
Doesn't it depend on the audience, though?

A picture shared with friends and family? The bag will never be the focus, they are interested in you above all else.

A picture shared on the 'Action' threads here? The bag will be the focus, but amongst enthusiasts who understand the beauty of the craftsmanship. The audience often uses these action shots as a 'look book' to research whether a bag may or may not fit their aesthetic and lifestyle.

A picture shared on a public/open social media account for random followers? Perhaps that could be seen as a flex, and thus, not the most tactful given the current state of the world. Even that depends on the way the picture is presented and the caption phrased (there is a way to feature beautiful things without showing off).

To me, it's only gauche if the intent of the behaviour is to rub people's noses in it and, certainly, that is a rare occurrence!

*I know this is the Unpopular thread and I'm not debating. Just following the prompt in the op to share thoughts.

I only come for the bags at Hermès and have no qualms anymore saying it! I really just don’t enjoy their ready-to-wear and shoes, no matter how much my SA tries to lure me in. Sure, the quality’s great but I find most of their RTW collections really boring (with an unnecessary amount of zippers and pockets everywhere?). As someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy equestrianism, their whole branding also seems to have just one note: horses, horses and horses (with a bit of a travel theme like Louis Vuitton).

I also just find most of their ads quirky in a really cringey way.
