My favorite leather items are not Hermes but valextra universal sunglass cases
that allow me to use smaller H bags

Another lover of this sunglasses case, which I purchased after your mention! And to keep this OT, even if my sunglasses would fit into a mini K using this case, still not interested. That bag is just too small!

Many people say they like Hermes and want a K or B because it's the YKIYK brand. Not everyone recognizes it as a designer bag. They want a bag that not everyone or rather very few carry. Yet, they also all want the same handful colors: Noir, Gold, Etain, Etoupe and whatever fad color of the year (Nata). Complete oxymoron, imo.
Hehe which wanting a b or a k because it's "under the radar" is weird too. Isn't the birkin the most recognized handbag in the world (according to journalists)? My mom, who knows little to nothing about handbags, know what my birkin is but thought the cc's on my classic flaps meant coach.

Clearly more than one data point is needed but the point is even she recognizes a birkin and has never been remotely interested in designer/luxury items.

LOL call me a lemming because I love all those neutral classic colors! Just to make myself even more cliche, go ahead and add rose sakura, rose pourpre, and bleu brume to the list!

I love this.
I don't even aim for a B,K or C because they are not my style.
Am I even really allowed in this forum?
I shop from H because their items really suit my overall style. I'm one of those "boring" all black or all navy clothes wearers and I really care for nice materials.

So far, whenever I carry an H bag and see others with an H bag too, they usually smile at me and look friendly.
I guess if one is carrying a five-figure bag and are still snooty, they must have a very miserable life! I pity them!

My unpopular Hermes opinion has more to do with people, particularly snobs.
I love Hermes, I really do. Since I was about 15. So when I see a lady out in the world with a Birkin or Kelly or any other Hermes bag, I have to fight the urge not to walk up and say “Hi! I love you bag”. Well here in South Florida there have been so many times that I see a lady with a Birkin or a Kelly and I’ll smile and compliment their bag, only to get the snootiest look back. Even when I’m also carrying a Birkin, lol. Usually they don’t smile and turn away! Why?? Why the snobbery? Even though I have a few Hermes bags, I still get super excited to see one on someone else. Whenever I’ve had someone say something to me, I am always super nice and fun about it. Why not? It’s a fun moment in an otherwise stressful world.

My mom is the exact opposite of yours! She wouldn’t recognize my B (and doesn’t even know I own one; even if I told her, she would have no clue what it is, or why she should care, but I would sure get an earful if I told her what it cost), but she can pick out a Coach from a mile away. The only designer bags she might be able to identify in the wild are the canvas LV and Gucci ones because those have been around for a long time and are pretty obvious. Even though she owned an LV epi bag in the early 90’s (and long ago gave it to me), I doubt she would even be able to recognize one of those today. She might not even be able to spot the one she gave me unless I reminded her - and that’s not because she’s losing her mind/memory in any way! But she may be one of the rare ones.

Opinion: For me, I find the color of my handbag makes it more noticeable and desirable than the fact it is a Birkin or Kelly.

The ones who "know" appreciate my Hermes bag, but the ones who do not know usually LOVE the color.

Example: I was shopping the other day with my B30 in Rouge de Coeur and a woman came up to me and said she loved the color of my bag; it was the perfect red. She went on and on about the color and then said to me, "Kate Spade really does make lovely colored bags".

That reminds me of the time I took a Barenia K to visit my Mother in Law. "That's a nice bag, is it new?" she said. "Umm, well it's actually quite old and second hand" I replied.
"Well it is nice, even if it was £50 I'd like it" was her reply.. "Yep, something like that!" I said. She'd be horrified if she knew the truth!

This reminds me of my mother in law. She always tells me she likes my “pocket books” when referring to my bags

OMG, pocket books! This was my grandmother and great grandmother! They clung to them for dear life. And everything (and I mean everything) went in them. Thanks for the throwback, even on a Friday!

To keep this on topic, my unpopular opinion for today is that I wish H had dust covers for their SLGs. Pretty sure I’ve seen this mentioned somewhere on tPF before, but storing them in the box is bad, but how else am I supposed to store them? No protection seems equally bad!

I thought I was the only one with this "unpopular" opinion!

I find a lot of other H bags are underrated and wish some of the vintage ones were still made.
