What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

My only wish is that more people would post action shots (whether show-iffy or not — I love that new word) or not, rather than stock photos)
Agreed. We can all see shots from every angle of any K/B/C in any leather, colour and hardware on any number of reseller sites, and shots inside H boutiques on any influencer’s feed. So much more fun to see people actually living with their bags!

also, another unpopular opinion, it’s ridiculous to think of H, even non BKC, as stealth wealth. The kelly tiret; the sangliers; the bolide shape; not stealthy
+1. These design codes are too iconic to be stealthy. My unpopular opinion - it may once have been stealthy to use one’s B as a proper tote (gym bag, grocery shopping bag, dog carrier etc) but now I think it’s really become anti-stealth! The whole concept of stealth wealth makes little sense to me.

ETA not poking fun at using the B35 as a tote. In fact, I’ll be using mine for a family and friends dinner this evening specifically because it’s so good for carrying wine!

Haha…. Perhaps those of us who post are a bit show-offy  we’re Hermes exhibitionists lol

Me too. My only wish is that more people would post action shots (whether show-iffy or not — I love that new word) or not, rather than stock photos)
100% agreed. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I like these pictures. Everyone looks so nice, and I hope someday I can put my outfit and jewelry together as well as these folks lol.

Same with outfits - love seeing how it all looks together. Especially when bags are so similar in size (28 vs 30 vs 32) - it's increments of 2cm, which is less than an inch but somehow makes a huge difference in looks!

Unpopular opinions #1,999,999 and counting:

- It's not a "club". You own a bag (or two, or hundreds). That means you spent money either at a boutique or a reseller; there is no other qualification for it. Doesn't make you special and there is no secret handshake or password. A better way to view it (IMHO) is that *you* are special and have good taste, and chose a great bag, maybe even have an understanding of a heritage brand. But....still no club!

- Added to this...you are more important than your bag. Who you are, what you do, how you treat people and the world...all more important than whether you carry a Himalaya B or a sweet cotton tote from your favorite charity, or you shove it all in your pocketses.

- If you can spot it, by definition it's not "stealth wealth". Subtle maybe... but not stealth. (Yes Gwyneth, that includes you in court, but I still want the green coat.)

Alleluia! Amen! Praise Be!

My unpopular Hermes opinion has more to do with people, particularly snobs.
I love Hermes, I really do. Since I was about 15. So when I see a lady out in the world with a Birkin or Kelly or any other Hermes bag, I have to fight the urge not to walk up and say “Hi! I love you bag”. Well here in South Florida there have been so many times that I see a lady with a Birkin or a Kelly and I’ll smile and compliment their bag, only to get the snootiest look back. Even when I’m also carrying a Birkin, lol. Usually they don’t smile and turn away! Why?? Why the snobbery? Even though I have a few Hermes bags, I still get super excited to see one on someone else. Whenever I’ve had someone say something to me, I am always super nice and fun about it. Why not? It’s a fun moment in an otherwise stressful world.

I actually asked a question about that and never got any response from the forum. Is it weird to initiate conversation about someone’s bag? I suppose it depends on the person. And I can see someone feeling uncomfortable talking about a luxury item with a stranger. But sometimes you see some really special bags and colors and I’m not just talking about BKC but other lesser known models that are cool.

These are the same people who think owning anything Hermes puts them in a special “club”. And if they dont see you with a Hermes then you’re not in it.

They are probably New Yorkers with second homes or on vacation lol!

Joking, but the friendliness of the South can be off putting to some of us Yankees. My Dad retired down in Florida from New York and was constantly asking why are all these people waving and saying hello to me?

It sounds like you have a lovely collection of Hermes!

I always wonder that as well. But I think at the end of the day it’s just a bag. We work hard for our money and enjoy the things we can afford. I’ve had a few young people (in their early 20’s or late teens, also I’m 44) gush about my bag and say “Is that a Birkin?” with wide eyes, lol. And I always talk to them and have fun. But whenever I’ve seen another lady carrying one, they just turn their nose up. Lol. I find it very funny.
