My first coach was a berry color lunch tote I think it is a made for factory bag.
I still think it is a lovely bag but I don't own other other MFF bags. I am into getting Full Price Deletes either at the outlet or on ebay. I love the madison line and have 4 Sophia and a Lindsey. I think the main thing is now I at least want a PCE discount. My first FP bag was an teal ella without the discount because I didn't know better...but live and learn as they say...

Mine was a Hampton's tote I think. The SA at the factory store picked it out for me and it turned out to be an FP bag. It is khaki fabric with blue leather corners and vachetta handles. I think I love it more now than I did then. It is a happy, beachy, logo free bag that goes with a lot of my clothes. (Pic is in my showcase thread linked in my signature.)

I went through a siggy fabric phase after that, and now I'm into legacy and classic leather bags. Fortunately a couple of my early bags were boring classic leather bags. I didn't appreciate them then, except that they were great for wearing at work networking events because they worked so well with business clothes. Now I love them more.

I still wear the siggy bags for fun outings and weekends and casual workdays.

I have a couple of factory leather bags that I'd like to upgrade, though. I think it's the pleats that bug me - not really into pleats on larger leather bags.

My very first Coach was a gift from my husband for Christmas. I was a die hard Dooney girl and didn't really follow or know anything about Coach. He chose the signature Carly in khaki with black leather trim and brass hardware. I still have the bag and I love it! Since then I still love my Coach signature pieces but I tend to choose all leather more often. I am a Madison girl and am fast becoming a Legacy girl, now having duffles in 3 colors and a molly satchel.

I know this thread is 2 years old, but it is a great question.

I bought my first Coach in the late 70's. I don't recall the style unfortunately. Back then, I got one bag a year and wore it to death. I think I always got mahogany or british tan leather. Now, I really like color so brown is usually my last choice.

I took a hiatus from Coach during the 80's and 90's. Once my children were born, I didn't need a nice purse anymore. Even after they were older, I didn't think about my purse purchases much. I just bought one at a department store with lots of pockets in black or brown. It wasn't until my daughter grew up and bought her first Coach, a black on black siggy Zoe, that I got back into Coach. The funny thing is I thought she was crazy for spending $400 on a purse and I wanted to prove to her that I could find a Coach much cheaper on ebay. I bought a quilted nylon hobo for $50 and then I was hooked. I wasn't as lucky on my next ebay purchase since I didn't know what I was doing and ended up with a fake. That is when I discovered tpf so I could get them authenticated. I bought a few siggies. For awhile, I thought the leather ones were too boring. I remember thinking that the siggy Brooke was so much prettier than the leather. I still love my slate siggy Brooke.

In 2010, I saw the sapphire leather Poppy and fell in love with the leather. I have several fabric purses still, but leather is what I am usually drawn to these days.

I paid full price for my first Coach. A Navy Blue Basic Bag, matched my uniform at work. I wish I still had it. Sold it to my neighbor's mom at my garage sale. Since then I have many Classic Coach Bags I have bought and sold over the years. Coach is still my first love and always will be!!

This is a great question! My first coach bag was the one in my avatar. It was the hamptons satchel (i think?) from spring 2003. I still have the catalog from back then with the bag in it! I was obsessed with this bag, just absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, the leather piping around the bottom was flawed and ripped, exposing the plastic. I sent it for repair and just got a certificate back for the purchase price. I almost cried, sad I know. I didn't know coach wouldn't give me the bag back. I was told if they can't fix them, they are destroyed. Ouch. So this bag is like the white whale for me, I can't get it out of my head and I know there aren't any more out there!!

I bought my first Coach back in 2007... My first was a black signature Ergo hobo. I've since sold it, I don't have any signature bags anymore. My second, purchased a couple months after the first, was a brown leather Ergo tote with legacy stripe lining which I do still have!

My first Coach was a High School graduation gift, back in 2002. It was a Classic Signature Demi Pouch. I remember the day it came in the mail from some family friends. My mom handed me a box and she had a huge smile on her face. I still keep that bag in the box with the red ribbon tied around the outside. It is a very, very special piece. This is also the only Signature bag I own. I love leather, all of my future Coach bags have been leather. I did not buy my own Coach bag until 2011 - there were no Coach shops where I previously lived, however I always adored the pieces I found online. The first Coach purse I bought was a Kristin shoulder bag in Jade while I was in Las Vegas, followed by a few other Kristin pieces (my HG being my black goat leather momma Sage).

Fun thread. My first Coach was a small leather purse similar to the current Legacy Penny. She gave it to me with a matching briefcase when I graduated from Grad school in early 90s. I still prefer leather but carry bags 10 times the size now (ok maybe a bit of an exaggeration).

Wow! I had no idea this thread existed, of course I'm still a newbie here tho. But I love this question. My first Coach was a Legacy (the first generation) Cotton Shoulder Tote. I loved that bag, wish I still had it. I have not seen any bag like it since, and have only found one in the last few years for sale on ebay (not the best condition). My taste has changed, tho I'd still wear that one, I tend to pick bags without the signature C's, and all leather.

My first Coach was a Soho red leather flap that I LOVED. I actually just sold it. Flaps don't work for my lifestyle anymore (I have an 18 month old), but that bag was SO pretty. I WAY WAY overpaid for it on da*Bay, but I had to have it.

Now I have the Legacy archival satchel in BC and the raspberry gathered Sophia, so my rage for red is definitely satisfied. I'm actually impressed with how close the Legacy BC color is to that original Soho red.

It's always been mostly leather bags for me, but I do have 2 sweet suede bags too.

Some threads ought to be revived. My first was a British Tan Back Sac in 1996. Thick glove tanned leather. For the most part I like leather, though I do have a solid twill hippie and a yet to be authenticated straw satchel.

My first coach bag was sabrina leather on plum... I still love her until now
