I purchased my first Coach back in early December and it was a signature stripe file bag in teal. I loved the color and still do.

However, I have since discovered that I like my bags a little larger than this bag.

I also discovered that I am willing to pay more for a bag than I initially thought I would pay.

So this means my collection now has a mix of leather and signature. I love them all.

So I don't know if it's more that my price point has changed, or if my taste in bags has changed. A little of both?

Here is my first Coach bag:

My first Coach bag was a silver signature small tote I bought at an outlet for my honeymoon. It was at the time, the most I have ever spent on a bag. My first FP bag from a boutique, was a birthday gift from my mother a couple of years ago. A legacy striped glam tote. I have bought several FP bags since. Although now, they are mostly leather and I don't carry totes anymore. I prefer the styles you can carry cross body. ( Willis, Isabelle, Duffles, etc)

Mine was signature, coach poppy dream c hippie style # 17049. It's been a couple of years, but I have even used her recently! Pop of color in c's is a must occasionally, but this is one of only 2 siggie bags I own, so I think I've changed over to a leather preference!

My first Coach was in 2000. My coworkers pitched in and gave me a gift certificate for Macy's. The sad part is I don't even know what it was called. It was a small black leather carryall type with a breakaway zipper (that I hated then and still do now!) I have since sold it as it's way too small for my needs with 3 kids. I took a hiatus from Coach and just came back 2 years ago when one of my coworkers had a side gig at a Coach store....the rest is history!! I started with a clover print sateen Maggie and now have around 30 bags:woot:

My first Coach was a Foach that I was told was real! My first real Coach was a black leather Mia tote which I loved, but it had that darn breakaway zipper. Now I try to stick with leather but I'm always drawn to siggy! I'm heading out to pick up my siggy Courtenay today!

Great question, OP!!! My ex-boyfriend gave me my first Coach purse while I was in my mid-20s, and I honestly think that if I still owned it, I would probably carry it around again. It was a structured, slim tote (I think they might have even called it the "lunch tote"), all black with the black signature medium-sized Cs, and leather handles and bottom. I absolutely loved it.

Now I'm in my mid-30s and I've since shied away from the signature C logo look, but I do find myself admiring the Cs in certain styles. I just don't think I would buy them...I've gone really minimalism, for the most part -- I like the signature logo (with the horse/carriage) stamped on the front to be small....but as far as styles, I've bought everything from hobos to satchels to mini duffles, to giant bags and mini bags, crossbodies....but they're always leather. I figured that spending the extra money on an excellent quality leather Coach bag to be a better deal. They'll last forever.

I'm also admittedly a bit of a retail snob, rather than MFF, although I do find myself admiring quite a few MFF bags in the outlets. They've really improved the quality. Yesterday I found myself drooling over a MFF black bag with many different textures in it and I'm still thinking about it. Hmmm....

Interested in going back and reading others' responses! Thanks again for starting this thread!

I bought my first Coach bag in I believe 2001. It was a black on white signature pouch like the one seen here. By far the most money I had ever spent on a purse! My first leather Coach came soon after, a slim red duffle like this one.

Since that time I have bought and sold many signature Coach bags, then moved on to LV, sold off most of those, a few Bottega Veneta, kept all of those, and since I stopped working a few years ago to stay home with my babies, back to affordable Coach.

I now only purchase leather items. I prefer hand or arm carried satchels that work with my petite size.

My first Coach, a large duffle. I bought it maybe 8 years ago and I paid full price, over $300. My taste has changed...a LOT. Everyone and their mother seems to have a version of the brown on beige signature Coach where I live right now, and I think it's very unoriginal. I can't imagine wearing this bag but I don't think I have the heart to sell it either, it was a present from my husband. At this point I much prefer leather over signature bags. I did recently buy a signature embossed leather mia Maggie but the C's are the same color as the overall bag and it is leather. It's my only other siggy bag, I have 3 other non-siggy leather coach ones and a leather Dooney and Bourke.

My first Coach was a red bucket bag purchased from the co]consignment store I was working for at the time. Soon to be followed by blue and green flap type bags from the same store. I don't think I ever knew their names.

I took them to the shoe repairman after a few years to be cleaned and checked and conditioned. When it came time to pick them up they were no where to be found. Gone missing and were never found.

I have other vintage bags but you never forget your first ones. I still miss my bags:rain:
