I guess save up for a bag with a small amount each month / day. If by the time you saved it up (and i dont mean 1-2 weeks) and you still REALLY REALLY LOVE it, then get it.

the most expensive bag i would ever buy is an Hermes Birkin. fortunately, i'm not into those crazy-colored exotic-leather Birkins, so that would save me some money

. my ideal Birkin would be the 35cm Togo with Palladium hardware in white and black, so i guess about $10000 a pop maximum

My dream bag is a Birkin... I'm not into the fancy leathers either, so a Togo 30cm with palladium hardware would be right up my alley! I guess $10K max? (But in a couple of years though!)

Close 3 way tie at the moment - Chanel reissue, Fendi spy and Mulberry python Roxanne. All over £1000.
God I can't believe a 1.5 years ago I thought £300 was way too much. My DH thinks I'm out of control but I've promised myself a Birkin in the next 3 years.

I bought the large tan leather Gucci horsebit hobo a little while ago for $1495. That was a tad naughty as Gucci is one of those brands that goes on sale quite often, but I have loved it for over 2 years and the classic horsebits never go on sale, so I went for it. I receive compliments constantly when I carry it.

Mine was a black chanel classic flap.. it was 11700 danish kroner, which is around $2000 usd, give or take some. I love it to death, but if I could buy it again I'd rather go for a cheaper and more robust caviar bag instead of the material I've got (I don't even know if it's calf- or deer- or whatever skin)
