What is the most that you'd spend on a handbag?

My limit depends on the bag and it's materials. That said, I can't imagine spending more than $10,000 on a bag and that would only be after my kids' college was fully paid for, all of my retirement accounts were completely maxed out, I'd donated a ton to charity and I could find absolutely nothing else to invest money in. There are way to many hungry kids in the world to allow myself to spend huge amount of money without thinking twice about it.

I don't think I would spend more than $1000 on a bag. I'm at a place now where I could afford it, but I just don't think I can do it. I'm old enough to remember when spending over $100 was a "big deal." (I'm not sure what that equals too with inflation, but I'm guessing around $300?)

I do notice myself thinking of bags that are under $1000 as "not too expensive" in my mind which would have been unthinkable just a few years ago, but as far as actually handing my cash over for one... well it would have to be a pretty awesome bag.

It's in excellent condition. I can't post an Please Authenticate post because I'm a new member. I only have 8 days left to get this darn bag authenticated here. The refund policy is return only if fake in 14 days. *sigh* how soon will someone approve my privileges on purseforum yikes!!

Is it of good, as new condition?
I recently bought a new m/l caviar GHW for €3100 from Europe. I believe it's $4400USD. In Australia, where I'm from, a brand new one would be $5290AUD.
So in that context, depending on where you're from, $3500 can be a pretty good deal, as everything is just so marked up!! :(

OMG, I was telling my teenage daughter just the other day about when I bought a leather bag at Penney's many years ago for $65.00 (!!) that I returned it because I thought I spent to much !! ( I am waiting for my first Gucci to get here ...which i bought in sale mind you) IA, I can afford better now but if I could afford "more better" I'm not sure if I would. I'd rather get two $1000 bags than one for $2000.:graucho:

The most that I would/will spend will be when I buy my Birkin so around 10-15k but that will be a one time purchase. The most I've spent so far is almost 4k (darn Chanel price increases).

Since I just graduated college and I'm still continuing my studies, my budget is extremely limited. I don't work part-time anymore, so my parents pay for everything. The most I've ever spent on a handbag is $300. Even though it was for a bag I really loved, I felt really guilty. I don't think I could exceed that amount anytime soon.
