What do H fans think of LV?

I appreciate your views, ladies.

First, my apologies to @JazzyMac for not just addressing my thoughts on the tpf H and LV forums in reply to her post. :flowers: I should have made a separate post to share my musings on LV and H products and services as a response to OP.

@scndlslv I hope you like your LV Tahitiennes! I have quads of Speedys and NFs (similar to you). When I said, I can't think to let go of LV, I meant my LVs really suit me and I'm not in a hurry to add H leather bags to my collection. Quite obviously the decision to get a B/K should not arise from the subtle prompting of an SA, however sweet she may be. :amuse:

@MrsOwen3 I would also find it difficult to justify spending 3k-7k for just any leather bag, so yes, I completely understand the siren call of H. I've not explored this territory though!

@Keren16 I agree with you, LV is hard-wearing, durable and has its own fun style. As brands, LV is the perfect complement to H for me, too. I've not looked at Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, etc. Just LV and H -- it was the scarves that drew me in!!

WOW!!!
Your reply was complete, objective & accurate
Thank you & look forward to your future observations & conclusions [emoji8][emoji106][emoji8]

I feel at home in both LV and H forums --they're different, but both helpful. If you will allow an analogy, I see the LV forum as a garden left to naturally grow with new threads sprouting all over the place. Some new threads get tended to and flourish; others, not. While the H forum is like a collection of old bonsai trees, strictly observed, clipped, and lovingly allowed to grow in a disciplined way. But both forums bring a wealth of information and camaraderie from their passionate members.

LV remains my bag of choice. Easy to use, light, and works for my needs. My darling H SAs have been offering me their coveted bags but I am not yet ready to let go of my Speedys and Neverfulls. And in the cosmopolitan city I live in, people know what's a B/K/C and carrying LV actually allows me to blend in -- it does not say "look-at-me" like H does (I know, it's extremely ironic!!). I enjoy my LV slgs. I think LV makes the best pochettes - mini, cosmetic and pochettes accessoire. But I go to H for agendas, shoes, and gorgeous scarves. In my experience, both LV and H offer an excellent, professional, and warm in-boutique service and after-sales care. My SAs are delightful women! When possible, we should bear in mind that it's really worth it to cultivate relationships with SAs in both LV and H so one's style, preferences and wishlists are taken into account and shopping is always a pleasure.

I love this characterization of the two forums on tPF....so illustrative and artful, besides the accuracy. I was trying to respond to the concept as well when I fell asleep last night, literally in mid-sentence, but you helped get to the matter in a far more eloquent manner! :)

So what do H fans think of the LV x Supreme line? I just heard about this a few weeks ago. Reading about the lines/hype/hysteria of the pop up stores (and now the cancelled North America release) reminds me of the current lines/chaos/situation at FSH. Good PR stunt, I suppose...but the LV x Supreme product line isn't that appealing to me. Maybe I just don't understand what's so special about Supreme. Thoughts?

I don't get the hype about Supreme, either. Just like I don't get the hype about Vetements or Yeezy.

It's the fashion equivalent of a entitled, spoiled celeb. It's overhyped, it wants all the attention and yet it's hard to get. I really like that Christopher backpack because I like the combo of white against red to begin with, but for the price and the effort it will take to get it, I'd rather spend my money and energy getting my next H bag.

I don't have any H bag but im saving up for 1 :)
I have few LV bags-- pallas, eva, nerverful gm, alma pm, wallet in empreiente leather and epi wallet on chain limited edition
Im starting to move away from LV because they make so many bag each year, cant keep up with it. Lucky the good thing they never go on sale, so it hold the value at least.

I have been around the block with bags, tried so many different Brands and I still fell back into the lap of Hermes. There is a reason it has the prestige that it has been given.
I started my designer bag obsession with Balenciaga, I loved the silver hardware and all the beautiful colors and how edgy they were as well as not having their name plastered all over the place on their bag. I like a little discreetness with my designer items. I had about 31 Balenciagas at one time.
When I had my daughter, carrying a Bal Bag became hard because they really didn't have a cross body that was big enough to put anything in and trying to run after a toddler with a diaper bag in one hand and my Bal in another was hard. Around that time, I started to become obsessed with Hermes bracelets, still am. So one day, I went to my Hermes and looked at the Evelyne...And I loved it!! The GM was big enough to carry the stuff I needed to have taking care of my child, I could carry it cross body, the colors I got were beautiful (my SA, who quickly became my new friend, was great at finding me things I wanted), and with the people I knew, Hermes wasn't a brand they were that familiar with.
Fast forward a few more years and my sister's wedding is coming up and I really don't want to carry one of my 8 Evelynes because they aren't super dressy and a little big for a wedding. So, I started looking at Chanel, I wanted to go smaller. Sold a bunch of my Evelynes and bought a few Chanels. After using them I little while, I realized I wanted more colors of bags and that Chanel bags, for the most part, were too small. So, I sold a few Chanels, and bought Givenchy, LV Almas, a Prada, a St. Laurent and Lady Diors. So after trying all these different brands, buying and selling bags, I finally decided that I wanted less bags but the best and bought my first Birkin (and my only Birkin for now). I'm in love. Just touching it or even looking at it makes me happy. To get the Birkin, I had to sell most of my other brands, including the Almas (although it wasn't hard). My huge 31 bag collection is now only 9 bags including a Birkin, 2 Evelynes, 2 Lady Diors, 2 Chanel Boys and 1 Chanel Double Flap Maxi, and 1 Balenciaga Work for travel.
So, I have tried so many designer brands, including LV, and my heart just beats for Hermes. Going into an LV store is so different than going into an Hermes store. LV stores are crowded and loud and sales girls acting like bimbos (I'm sure they are smart but they probably act like bimbos to sell more stuff) who are either ignoring you because they are too busy or pushing products on you that you don't want. When I go into any Hermes store, the store is elegant and quiet, the SAs act like grown ups and not bimbos. And the products they offer me are things I'd be interested in. And the idea of being offered a Birkin is been so blown out of proportion it's ridiculous. With all the fraud out there, they should only offer something like that to people they know and trust. Today, people buy bags, swap them with fakes and return them. Now, what if the bag was $15000, would you want to deal with that? Also, when you have a relationship with your SA, they know what to offer you. My SA knows the colors schemes I love and hate. He would never offer me a red Birkin because he knows I hate red. And, these Birkins will last generations, so you can bring them in to your store where your SA will be and ask about getting something fixed or getting your bag cleaned. You can't do that at other stores. They don't even remember the people they help. Going to the Hermes store is like you are all from the same town and they know about your kids and husband, about your job or what you do for fun. It's just a very different feeling that any other shopping I've ever done.
Lastly, about the Almas I had. I had two, one in hot pink and one in turquoise. I kind of liked them but I hated that immediately everyone knew they were LV, because everyone has them. And, I hate LV monogram anything!! This is what I hate the most about LV is that they plaster the monogram on everything ruining the look of a product that could be nice. I feel like LV does this to cater to an immature, insecure market that has to show that they know how to buy things and that they want to look like they have money. To me LV is like a teenage girl, so desperate to get the attention of anyone who also is looking for attention, plus I assume that half the people I see carrying a LV is carrying a fake. Any other designer brand is better than LV to me. Prada, Fendi, St Laurent, etc. When I seen someone carrying LV my opinion of them changes, a lot.
This is just one Hermes girls opinion of LV. The bags are just ugly and desperate.

Which H bag were you looking at?

I just Googled it and it's ugly.

I have few LVs, 1 Chanel, 1 Balenciaga, 1 Givenchy, 1 Chloe (try to sell my Chloe and Givenchy at the moment) and rest are all Hermes. LV was the brand that started my bag collection and addiction. I started with a speedy 25 in DA canvas but at the same time I am a big leather fan (otherwise I won't be a Hermes fan). I don't have many LV canvas bags, one for disaster weather and one for flight carry on, all others are leather bags. My LV collection mostly are Capucines, SC, HM special orders and mahina leather line. To me it's all about design and functionality, I don't buy Hermes for screaming to say look at me I can afford Hermes, I love hermes for it's beautiful design, beautiful leather, beautiful colour, same goes to LV. I got attracted to some of LV's beautiful design, I carry LV capucines when I want a bag that has simple and elegant design and at the same time I don't want to spend time to fight with kelly's opening. Who am I will never defined by the bag I am carrying, doesn't matter if it is LV or Hermes. But at the same time my bag does reflect my taste as well, so regardless what brand I am carrying, if it does not match my whole outfit, it is just a disaster and an expensive disaster if it's Hermes. LV leather lines does have some very well made pieces, unlike Chloe and Givenchy (which I still couldn't figure out why I bought them) which you can tell the quality does not reflect on it's price.

There is a thread on the LV sub-forum since January, currently 63 pages long ---
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/louis-vuitton-x-supreme.959397/page-63
So much hype, expectation and confusion in early days. Then came the messy queues at the pop-up stores, cancelled launches, and more queues and balloting at regular boutiques for 14 July release.

I'm not keen on the bright rouge / noir epi leather items with the Supreme logo or rtw that most people wanted. I had eyes only for the camouflage Keepall 45 since I've been waiting for a small Keepall in a print I love. I told my SA I wanted it in January. Early this month, I received a message from SA confirming if that was all I wanted. I said yes. A Keepall was set aside and I'm able to get it without queues or stress.

I read the Paris trip for Hermes thread and I think this LVxSupreme collab is a close analogy. From the outside, there's line sitters, resellers and overall frustration. From inside (if one is a valued, regular client of a boutique), it was relatively easy to get what you wanted. LV SAs are bracing themselves for 14 July as they'll have to say no to so many who will definitely come to try their luck.

This is just my point of view, but I never doubted Louis Vuitton would come through for its own established clients. Just as Hermès comes through for its established clients.

^ I must qualify my post, to be fair, I know not everyone queuing outside FSH is a reseller or one-time H buyer, just as not all in the LVxS lines are looking to turn a profit and not true lovers of LV or Supreme (or both). But it's certainly harder for those who love the brand but don't live near boutiques when something this limited comes around.

I love the heritage of Supreme, and its credibility in the street/skate world. I have respect for LV and the inventiveness of many of the partnerships. I haven't seen much I love in the collaboration, and I am certainly not standing in line for it.
Now, there was a member here with a Supreme sticker on a black Birkin - might even have been box calf - and I LOVED that. So cool.

Your story sounds like mine except I never used LV as a starter. I played a little bit with some and still own 3 straps but just couldn't keep those bags. But it sounds like you slimmed down your bag collection and now are left with only a few you love and your H bags. My journey was like that until I found bag zen. Scarves are my next demon to conquer
