What do H fans think of LV?

I am still horrified of a members comments on this thread regarding her opinion changing of people who carry LV! Surely there is more to life than judging people negatively due to a bag they carry? That person could have cancer or a parent recently committed suicide or whatever, they could be facing a really tough battle in life, but this member feels because she is. H fan, she can belittle others due to monatry status. xxxx - just no

back to topic.... actually i'm disappointed with hermes. the corners my retourne bags are easily scuffed. i dont baby them too much (now i tend to) I just use them regularly. LV stuff is so cute. I'm now looking for a flat zipped wallet and with LV's fun designs, I might just pop on over.

...I'm also wanting the speedy empreinte especially now that I know it has an outside pocket!

I am here from LV because I have now received 3 defective bags. It’s a shame because I’ve just seen a new release I like and the first thing that crosses my mind is “ see what defects it ends up having before buying” I’ve lost faith in the brand along with mulberry, who sent a bag out last week with rubber/ glue all in the bottom. It looked so unsightly I was asked if it was a fake. They’re producing poor quality due to demand. Too many corners are being cut. I’m looking into Tod’s, Hermes and Carolina Herrera. Any other qualit brands left out there?

Bottega Veneta. Quality is on a par with Hermes, IMO, and very understated.

I'm curious what is disappointing about scuffed corners, wouldn't any bag show signs of use if you actually use it?

I'm not aware of any bag that won't show use if you use it. H bags aren't imbued with magical protective qualities and the bulky design of a Birkin or larger Kelly would mean the corners are prone to damage but I don't understand how that would be disappointing in terms of the brand.

Would never buy any handbags from LV but I really like their SLG's (have a few of them) They have some really nice pieces, and I always enjoy checking their limited edition pieces when they come out.

it's disappointing because the leather scuffs easily at the corners making it look older than it actually is. H may not have magical powers but i expect something that expensive to be at least more durable.

the corners of my other branded bags don't show wear that quickly even if i use them everyday for weeks when traveling. the easily scuffed bags only applies to retourne Ks and Bs.

my other styled H bags like the seau kelly, jypsiere, evelyne, kelly flat, kelly sellier, constance, etc. all hold out very well. now i'm more careful with my Bs and retourne Ks

so you see, I have quite a variety of H bags i can make comparisons on how the styles wear & tear

I wish LV would offer spa service for bags like Hermès. I know this has been brought up before. Even if I take care of my designer bags they will need some tlc at some point, especially when I will pass on a bag to one of my dear nieces. With my nomad Alma I travelled to Paris and visited a LV craftsman to discuss my bag from 2006. He was great and I really enjoyed meeting him. When we parted he gave me a lotion for my bag and showed how I could treat the corners. LV used to sell a product like this. There were just minor scuffs but I realise there will be more depending how much I carry the bag.

LV does replace handles (minor things like zipper pulls can be replaced at the store) but the repair service doesn’t clean bags like Hermès. Perhaps they should develop that service sector? I’ve bought a large exotic LV (could have bought a regular leather Birkin for the same price) and it will be my only exotic LV piece because I feel I get more aftersales service when I buy a Hermès B/K. The fact that the bag maintains better the value is an important factor too.

I bought my last LVs (and most expensive ones) in 2013, before the head designer was changed. The new designs look too fussy and complicated (the turning LV logo as a clasp) [emoji33] but I’ve bought rtw both before and after Marc Jacobs and very happy with the pieces. I also buy presents for other people at our local store, but lately more Hermès since I love the brand.

My 2 denim LVs are my most loved LV bags and in summer or when travelling to the Caribbean I leave my H bags at home and carry a LV pochette instead. So no more LV bags for me but I’m happy with the ones I have, despite not using them so much except in summer.

The LV shoes are still interesting, provided that there are not too many logos. The service at LV wherever in the world that I’ve visited a boutique has always been superb.

I guess you missed that hot mess of a thread about how cost doesn’t equal durability nor does H leather have magical protection from wear. Any bag can become scuffed on a corner or get some color transfer on it in an instant.

What you mention, comparing the variety of styles you own, seems to be an issue with just two styles with exposed leather corners on wide square designs leading to possible wear. Sorry to hear Hermes is so disappointing, you seem to have invested quite a lot in their merchandise.
