I still have my classic LV bags even though I don’t use them anymore. They are so durable so I’m keeping them for my daughter (when she’s older). And I still love their SLGs. They have a lot of cute limited edition ones that I can’t say no to.

Not a huge lover of LV. However, I just recently stepped out on a limb and purchased the 45 Monogram Macassar keepall bandouliere for travel. It seems durable and so far, I have enjoyed carrying when out of town. If all continues to go well with it, I will probably purchase the larger 55 or 60 keepall in either the Macassar, Monogram Eclipse or Damier by end of year. Those 2 travel pieces (and maybe the king size travel toiletry bag) will be my only LV purchases.

I just feel like a lot of LV is overdone and over the top (even if that is the style nowadays, it's not my style) - so I'm not a fan of monogram or the Neverfull because I see the print & that bag everywhere.
That being said - I do have a Speedy 30 in DE and it was my first luxury purchase in Paris a few years ago, so in that way it will always be special to me. It was inspired by my mom who bought her Speedy 35 in monogram ~12 years ago in Paris. I also have a key holder in black epi leather that SO bought for me for Valentine's Day last year - so it obviously it's special for a different reason. But beyond these 2 pieces, I'm not really tempted to add to my LV collection.

My first bag was LV monogram multicolor bag Priscilla. It was dream to got that bag. I Love my Priscilla and I am using her during the summer a lot. I have few another LV bags- canvas and also leather- and I using them during the rainy or snowy days. I have also capucine PM and I have quality issue With her .... but I Love her.. and I am using her.....at the end I prefer non-monogram bags and I trhy to rotate all of my bags.

Be careful with the larger keepalls when flying as the airlines may insist you check it. My Keepall is a 50.

I admit I’ve never been attracted to LV due to logo overload but I do like the more recent all-leather entries. I’ve never owned LV. My first bags were Coach all leather; I went to Hermes as soon as Coach piled on the logos. I don’t use other handbag brands, which my friends think is bland but hey, I vary colors, metals and type of bags per occasion so :noworry:

This may not be a 'what do I think of LV?' but an observation that the LV forum seems to have lots of (too many) threads asking about defects in finishing and unexpected wear with recent purchases. They undermine confidence in the brand.
I am here from LV because I have now received 3 defective bags. It’s a shame because I’ve just seen a new release I like and the first thing that crosses my mind is “ see what defects it ends up having before buying” I’ve lost faith in the brand along with mulberry, who sent a bag out last week with rubber/ glue all in the bottom. It looked so unsightly I was asked if it was a fake. They’re producing poor quality due to demand. Too many corners are being cut. I’m looking into Tod’s, Hermes and Carolina Herrera. Any other qualit brands left out there?

I've been reading with great interest this thread... LV was also, for me, my first designer gateway, back when I was a kid. Though I feel that LV was a bit better made then (which was in pre-LVMH days), I still recall some zippers being difficult to operate, the gold color on hardware wearing off way too early, and the edges of my LV monogram wallet starting to fray /wear away too soon. And, while I agree the monogram canvas is virtually indestructible, I always found it disappointing how badly the natural cowhide trim on LV canvas bags would stain, get dirty, and otherwise look tired and soiled (and how hard/impossible it was to fix that, in comparison to H leather spa treatments). I have had a few of my LV bags taken in for spa/re-conditioning- the work back to me varied widely in quality, with many of the jobs not effecting much, if any, change at all, although one toilet kit got a new zipper and came back looking brand new.

As many of you dear friends know, once you go H it is very hard (if not impossible) to find other brands that possess the same quality, workmanship, and material perfection (and wonderful use of color). While I've tried other brands (and love other styles offered by other brands) all of my accessories/SLGs are Hermes and I can feel and see the difference in quality even between these SLGs and other designer bags, so I find myself gravitating back towards the H bag black hole time and time again. That all said, I do like LV shoes, sunglasses (H, when are you going to make sunglasses? You could kill in this market!), some of the pret-a-porter, and some small accessories. I also like a couple backpack and messenger styles, but for me, I generally shop LV for things that represent gaps in the H style universe.
Would you consider the garden party in canvas well made with attention to detail? I find with other brands that the lower priced bags do not have the attention to detail or quality. Sadly I have to carry light weight bags due to an injury and feel leather would be too heavy. I’m now looking to H after being let down by other brands I use to own. Sadly the quality is no longer there and I cannot justify handing over my money for items of similar quality to brands I can purchase for a fraction of the price on the high street.

I agree with you about the quality issues - I have probably purchased my last LV. Two bags I bought summer have defects - not huge ones (like glue - yuk - what a disappointment that must have been!!) but I notice them and they are unacceptable for the price. Also, the LV bag assortment is totally schizophrenic - different manifestations of the logo and there are simply too many models. Trying to appeal to all at the cost of elegance.

I recommend taking a look at Moynat - I am a huge fan. Their bags are not for everyone but are handmade and near H in quality.

I agree with you there! I like the Quattro. I really like simple totes ( boring I know ) but I carry the kitchen sink at all times ha ha. Question is garden party or double Sens. I’m not sure a tote can justify the price though from H. Not sure how the corners will wear due to their points. I can’t really find much in terms of wear and tear on either to be honest. I have to keep bags light weight due to injury so heavy leather is out of the question sadly. I struggled with mulberry’s bayswater weight. Balenciaga was ok, but again, quality issues v price tag. I don’t mind paying if we actually get quality items that last. Seems impossible to find anymore. Do you have to contact moynat for pricing? Celine cabas is nice but you can’t buy online and no store near me

Some of their models (including Quattro) are online at barneys.com. Otherwise contact the boutique.

Yes, I know! Boo. When researching what larger size Keepall to get, I came across several posts here and on the web in general about sizing allowances when traveling by air. I definitely don't want to have to check it, so if flying, I would only use my 45 (if I were to get the 55 or 60).
