What do H fans think of LV?

Though Hermes is my favorite, there is a place in my life for LV. I have learned to ignore the logos and appreciate it for practicality. Like rainy days & situations where I do not want to be concerned about damaging my Hermes. The quality of Hermes is much better to me. I try not to make comparisons.
Years ago, I abandoned LV for another designer brand that I feel now is as just as overexposed. Many Hermes bags are very under the radar. In fact people outside of Hermes collectors would not recognize them other than appreciating the style & craftsmanship.
Some LV bags are in the same price range as some Hermes. For that amount of money, I would definitely put my purchases towards Hermes.
It all comes down to personal preferences and tastes.

I like both LV and H. I'm a new H fan. I've had my LV accessories for years and I love my LV wallet. I'm tempted to get an H wallet, but I don't believe it will have the same durability or long lasting quality of good ol, coated canvas and at the H prices, I may be too scared to buy/use it. I'm more inclined to get LV accessories than an LV bag. That said, nothing wrong with LV bags. They seem to last forever. I think the Damier print is lovely and not as in your face as the monogram.

I agree too! Totally, believe bag fashionistas just love pretty high quality bags. No matter the brand (of high quality) if it's unique and pretty they will go for it. It's all about style and color needed. Usually, women have two to three designers they lean towards to. And each designer has its place in her wardrobe

This is not what I said at all. :confused1:

what you said was a broad generalization that i couldn't find in any posts and since you didn't quote any posts that actually said LV was brand embellished or where anyone said that they could read minds and know that LV bag carriers were conceited or whatever I simplified the statement.

You're in the H forum, you're going to get a lot of replies from people who prefer H. You want to be surprised or in disbelief that the brand comes with preconceived ideas here? you should look at what you said about people who carry H...

What we like is all so individual! It's just personal preference, and of course we all have biases towards and against certain brands. LV looks good, so does H. I think we probably all have friends who think any designer bag purchase is ridiculous, but maybe spend a lot on travel, or remodels, or wine, or expensive hobbies. I certainly don't associate anyone's purse preference with anything serious. I just what we like.

Perfect evaluation [emoji8]
Thank you!

My original comment in this thread was more neutral along the nice side, but now I'm in a bit of disbelief the amount of posters here who feel that LV is the one that's "brand-embellished"! :amazed: There are threads upon threads, articles, and books, about how to score the elusive Birkin and Kelly (B & K). Do you really perceive that LV owners act smug and conceited? Have you read their minds? If that's the case, how do you think you're perceived when carrying your Birkin? Only my opinion. In three different threads in as many weeks, I've asked a question or made a comment, and been completely ignored. It definitely doesn't happen in the LV thread. So, take it as you will. Another thing...while I love all things purses and bags, I still haven't gotten a B or K because of the fact that I don't want to walk around with a huge Hermes imprint on my head. :yucky: No matter how many LV bags you see around, there's intimacy in numbers.

Good grief, do you really think you're the only person posting comments on this forum? Look at the number of people who are on just this subforum at any one time. It's like trying to be heard amongst many voices talking at the same time..you're going to be passed over from time to time, unless you are a frequent and friendly contributor (not just posting questions and asking for help but actually contributing information that others can use in a friendly and non-combative way).

I haven't read every post in this thread, but most of what I've read has been positive about LV. I like the look of the LV monogram (color scheme, font) and would buy it over the Damier line, but there's no way you can deny that it's a blatant display of the brand's logo.

I still like some LV, though I wouldn't be willing to spend much on a bag because it's not worth it to me anymore. I love my Palm Springs mini backpack - it's super cute, a great rainy day and travel bag. I wear it during times I wouldn't want to wear my more delicate or expensive bags.

I like LV. It's my gateway drug to luxury handbags and that will never change. However, I also find myself wanting H more now, because it's more under the radar and less jealousy or judgment from others. I haven't owned H long enough to compare the quality, but I can say that LV canvas, especially older ones, last forever!

I agree, LV owners and subforum members are the friendliest most chatty and helpful. Chanel subforum members are helpful and friendly also.
With that said I only go to LV, Chanel and H mostly as these are the brands I personally like., I find the H forum quick to close down new threads if someone has already asked the question even if it was years ago. So I don't do reveals open new threads to ask questions on H anymore, I just go elsewhere when I have a question.

Same here. The H mods are way too strict. It turned me off as well. I can't find answers to a lot of questions for H but seeing that the question threads always get closed down I just don't make new threads lol. No point in trying.

My fav has to be Chanel, Dior, and the Celine subforums. LV is fun too!!
