I should point out an observation. Some SGH bags are noticably heavier, and I think it's partly because the leather is thicker. I don't think the Giant Hardware actually weighs that much more. They're not milled out of a solid block of metal and I expect they're hollow. But some of the LEATHER recently has been much thicker than anything I'd seen before, and the thickness of the leather can add some weight. I have 4 SGH Works, and the heaviest by far is the Violet. Then the Tomato, and finally the Black and Plomb are the lighest. The Violet has the thickest leather, then the Tomato, and so on. Even within the same bag style, you can get weight variations based on the leather itself. The leather on my GGH Violet Day, on the other hand, is thinner and lighter.

But it's aaaaaaaaaall gooooooooood!!

I LOVE my Black City....just love her. And like Deco and others know, it's the leather that make this bag. I've seen other black GSH Cities and I know how lucky I am....mine is thick, black as night, no discoloration on the corners, super-soft, NO veins, minimal distressing, and get's softer with wear.

This bag isn't heavy at all (at least to me) and looks killer with the GSH.

I guess I'm in the minority because I think the added weight is noticeable. I agree with Deco that it depends on the leather and some f/w 06 had really thick leather and were heavier than other bags. Add GH to that heavier leather and it's very noticeable. My fist GH was a City. When I took it out of the box I knew it was going back because of the weight.
The Giant Hobo is a much lighter bag and the only one that I've tried that doesn't seem heavy with the GH. Besides, I love my tassels and the GH still isn't doing it for me. I'm going to eventually get ONE and only one Giant Hobo. I simply can't fall in love with the GH. I've tried and I keep seeing thimbles.:girlsigh:

I wake up in the morning and I want GSH. :wtf:

I also stumbled across this new site 'styledrops' and they have it, too. (For less, I believe!)

I'm a very confused girl. :confused1:

I have been carrying around a city with RH for awhile and recently switched to a GGH brief. I did notice a weight difference but it wasn't substantial... basically I don't feel like it is too heavy after carrying it for awhile - like with my MJ Stam or Venetia (carrying one of these is a work out!!) :death:

Digging up an old thread!!! I just got to using my first GH bag. I love BLING coz I work with them a lot. But that's besides the point. I love GH on bags that belongs to others but not myself. It is the weight that puts me off. My SGH Sahara Day's weight is killing me. I carry 500ml water bottle in my bag & with the GH Day, I feel like it is attempting to snap my shoulder off!!! But I do love SGH & Sahara combo lots. Am I a wimp? :girlsigh:

Oh dear Powderpuff, do you have any idea which color (gold or silver) tarnishes?
My GSH plomb Work is definitely heavy, sometimes i feel its even heavier than my RH weekender. But so far, the studs are not tarnished.

I have not seen pics of tarnished hardware yet. I wonder how much it will cost for replacement. I tried the sgh pt at balny yesterday and did notice the weight difference. I brought my gray first to balny to get new handles and they did not have a problem with the replacement order. I still like the sgh pt bag but they didn't have the color I wanted. I have a givenchy nightingale with the metal plates on the bag and omg that bag weighs 4 lbs! I put the nightingale on the scale at the post office last week just for fun :p So if you want to know the exact weight of a bag try the post office. I'm going to buy a baker's scale soon so I can weigh my packages for ebay.
