Weight of Giant Hardware v Regular Hardware

Kates, thank you so much! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Now we have an objective list of the weights. And extra thanks for putting up with the teasing I'm sure you got. My DH would also have thought I was a nutter if I were weighing my bags.

lol! absolutely! your question was always something i was curious about! i wish i had more of a variety, but maybe someone else will weigh in (omg...no pun intended ) on their different styles of gh bags!

Thanks Kates for the info on weights... whenever I take out my PT GSH in Vert Fonce I figure I'm giving my arms and shoulders a good workout...hasn't it been said: "weight training is the fountain of youth" ???

Do you GH City owners out there find your bags a bit heavy to carry around?

^^ yeppers, i had a gorgeous white GGH city & it was too heavy for me (3+ pounds empty)...i live in nyc & walk or take the subway everywhere, so my bags have to be comfortable to carry...but the giant hardware hobo, day & besace styles are super-light!!!

With regular hardware they vary but anywhere from 1# 6 oz. to 1# 12 oz.

City with Giant hardware, dustbag, mirror - 2.8 to 3 lbs

I used a digital bathroom scale.

Do you think that new hardware adds weight to the bag? Or does it not make much of a difference? I felt there was a difference even in an empty bag and wonder, do you really feel it by the end of the day?

My City with Giant pewter hardware weighs 1 lb more than my city with regular hardware. I definitely feel it, which is why I have yet to take it out for the day.
