Scored this vintage bel air for under $300.. Canvas is in great condition and will probably get the vachetta restored at some point but I’m currently liking the vintage look!
Wow! That is gorgeous! I just got one too from a reseller from Japan
It was hard to find one without cracked leather, but I found one. However, mine has a weird scent. I have charcoal packets inside and baking soda outside and it’s wrapped in a bag for a few days. I feel like they might have sprayed something to disguise the smoke or musty smell.
Did you have to clean it up or air it out?

No I lucked out! My interior is in almost perfect condition!! The only flaw is some cracked leather in a couple spots but figured that's an easy fix in the future.
And I thought I heard the bel air was coming back in 2020... the seller was thinking about keeping it and replacing the vachetta but I figured I should snatch it up ASAP at that price!
That’s so cool! You did luck out, especially for that price. It’s around 595.00 to get the whole vachetta replaced. If you go back a couple of pages there is one.
I’m thinking the new version will be at least 2600.00

Mine didn’t come with a strap and I’m not sure.. would wearing it with my other strap that’s lighter look too weird?? I wonder if that cost would include a new strap or if that would be an extra cost on top of the replacement

I think any thin strap would be good. You could buy the monogram strap online too.

My pretty ladies...my Petit Noe is from ‘96. The Pochette from ‘98 and the Speedy 25 is from 1989.

Oh, I definitely purchased pre-owned. But they are in nice vintage condition with very minimal flaws. There is a spot on the Petit Noe that the canvas cracked along with the Vachetta strap, but you cannot see it at all, you literally have to tug at the Vachetta for it to be noticeable. The only reason this is disappointing to me is that LV likely will not replace the Vachetta along the top of the bag, which I was hoping to do eventually, but they don’t repair any part of bags that have cracked canvas as far as I am aware.Wow!
