I have the same bag. My mother purchased it in Atlanta in 1986. Yours is in much better condition than mine though. She used it everyday for 15+ years, then gave it to me in 2003 and I used it everyday until February of this year and retired her. My favorite part is how it has the leather seam on the bottom and LV facing up on both sides. The canvas is cracked all around the zipper on both sides and the zipper hasn't worked since she gave it to me. Finally retired her and purchased the Turenne MM. I love it. Feels like the upgraded big sister to my old Speedy.
Glad to hear you and your mother got her monies worth from the speedy. It is so strange to have the bags packed away in my garage referred to as vintage. But such is life so many bags so little time. of all the bags this was my first and only LV. I guess this is why I kept it. ;)

Wow I think this thread has awaken a new monster but perhaps less of an enemy to my savings account! I have always adored seeing an older bag with a rich patina that makes the monogram canvas seem more understated and classy. It's just set off so elegantly against the honey colored vachetta. I just had a blast drooling over all your lovely items!! I'm a little nervous to buy online although I have but I'm just starting to look at some of the suggested sites and it would be so awesome to own one of these timeless pieces!!

I have always loved vintage LV bags, and recently purchased a 25 yr. old Speedy 40 (MIF January 1990). I refurbished her and she has become my favorite everyday bag. She is on a little trip at the moment and is expected to be returned to me this week. ( I sent her to an LV boutique in Florida to be hot stamped, since the Saks where I live no longer hot stamps the bags, only SLG's). Will post a better pic when she returns to me this week, I sure miss her.....

So call me crazy but I acquired another Speedy 30 recently while innocently browsing online :graucho:. I couldn't pass it up because I'm a sucker for vintage and this one is from 1982. Well my current Speedy 30 is from 1989 and there are a few differences that I wanted to share and to see if anyone else has a Speedy from the early 80's too. Right away the biggest difference is that the 1982 Speedy has no inner pocket. I was a bit taken aback since I'm used to having that little pocket on the inside on my other Speedies, but since I have a Samorga organizer, it isn't a big deal. The 1982 Speedy also has the Eclair zipper with the "LV" studs, which I think is really cool and it came with the original lock which has a slightly different shape and it actually has the original two keys too. Now, the one thing that is throwing me off is that the inside has 'SA' as the location code, but the outside tag says Made in France. So is it Italy or is it France??

Overall I'm really happy with this purchase, but I am going to have to sell my 1989 Speedy as I can't possibly justify having two of the same bag, although with the character that each has, they really are their own, individual bags too. Here are a few pics showing the little vintage quirks of the 1982 Speedy.

I've been stalking the pre-loved market and finally found one that was in the condition i wanted for the price i wanted to pay! So so pleased! :)

By the way, does anyone know when the Petit Noes started to have a d-ring inside? I remember waiting one with a d-ring and most older, pre 1993-95 didn't have one!

Anyways! So pleased, and she is bigger than i thought! Really! [emoji173]️
