I want to get a speedy 30 vintage 1984. She's well used. Handles are quite dark interior is stained. Clearly the bag was used but is it worth it? Can the handles be somewhat cleaned?

Hi! I think handles are easy to clean and in the worst cases, can be replaced. I'd be more concerned about the interior. Decide if the stains would be something you can live with if these do not come out from cleaning efforts.

Here is my vintage cabas piano. I know a lot of people hate dark leather, but I like mine because it's mine. I've used it to death for 7 years. Originally bought it from Hong Kong reseller let-trade back when it had a nice, honey patina. It is approximately 15 years old

Edit: I wouldn't buy an LV in this condition but I appreciate the patina I create on my own.

Aww, thanks! It's funny because I read some of the comments here on the forum and so many people don't like patina and try to avoid it! I always felt that (your own) patina showed the history of the bag. While I didn't buy the bag brand new, the straps are much different than what they were years ago when I first got it. It has really lasted the test of time and I know it won't fail me for many years to come. That and it's waterproof! I really used this bag as my primary purse for many years until I got a new Coach for work.

I also feel that many people associate dark patina'ed bags as dirty. Well, I swear my bag is super clean inside; the "worst" thing that has happened in there was one pen mark I made inside the pocket of the bag. Although, I do understand to some degree; I personally wouldn't buy a secondhand bag as dark as mine but only because I like to put my own "stamp" on my purse. :D

Haha yeah. I actually prefer very dark patina, like dark whiskey or cognac color on lv vachetta strap handle and smaller size speedy (30,25). Its really compliment the canvas.
I really like lv piano/mezzo as well. Reminds me of angelina jolie hahaha.

I LOVE seeing dark patina on speedys! Glad you feel the same way. :smile1: They just look so pretty and aged to perfection.

And I wish LV hadn't discontinued the Cabas family. Those were great bags. The mezzo made a perfect book tote/overnight bag. I just got my mezzo back recently as I had left it in my parents' house. Loved that tote and still do!

Yay! Yes Cabas family is very amazing bag. It fits everything. And no matter what, when i saw someone carrying cabas bag. Its always reminds me of Angelina Jolie.
Like... always. Lol.

I love the darker patina! To me, it means there's a history to it.
