I have a bonnie cashin for sills coat and it's very well done! It closes with all these turnlocks. I highly recommend getting a piece when then pop up.
Cool! I love the Cashin coats with turnlocks. So I justed started hitting the gym again and eating better recently and am super committed to shedding some serious "fluffage". Maybe when I hit goal weight I'll do some serious vintage shopping!!! (I have better luck with finding good vintage pieces when I'm smaller!)

Yep looks pretty blue on the inside.

Must be a bad day for rehabbing as I am struggling with one too. I thought it was in great condition and was going to be an easy rehab. Firstly someone had shortened the strap but I solved that easily by finding one in my rejects box. But then I realized the bag was also covered in shoe polish. After about an hour of working on it with acetone I gave it a bath and it's really sticky. Yuck. But I've always wanted a prairie bag...

It's looking good! I love the Prairie! I'd like to get one in brown some day.

Totally agreed!! I watched ebay for MONTHS waiting for a vintage red belt in the large size. So many mediums and smalls, and one finally popped up I bought it right away.

I also find with the Bonnie Cashin clothes, they're usually XL or XS. It's hard to find those middle sizes vintage!!

I did find my beloved coat for $40, and it's the most beautiful warm thing. It's just as warm as my long down puffer! It costs me $45 to dry clean it, but worth it. It's a forever piece for sure! I'd recommend keeping an eye out - you never know what might pop up!

I would love to see a mod shot of the coat.... sounds amazing!

I got a stinky surprise Willis today. My first cigarette smoke challenge. I guess I've been lucky so far! I already dunked it, I didnt even want it to touch any surfaces in my house. It also had a white film all over it that thankfully scrubbed off in the bath. What a nasty bag.

Even more depressing, I think I accidentally bought a navy blue Willis. I initially thought it was gray or black and I made an impulsive offer on it as soon as I saw the Costa Rica creed. Then I looked closer at the pics and saw hints of navy blue. I hate navy blue. What do you guys think, is it blue?

Aw I love it! I have a gray one and I wish it was black or navy.

I found this adorable little mini flap bag today, made in the USA in 2000. I'm conditioning her now because she's in pristine condition!
Can anyone tell me more about this style, 9142? Such as when it first was released, how much it cost, etc. Was it modeled after an earlier style? I'm very curious and I can't find anything.
Thanks!

Dang it. At least it has nickel hardware, that's neat!
Awww, I'm sorry you had a color disappointment. I don't have a Willis yet, but I know I want one with nickel hardware and I think navy would be a great color with all the jeans I wear, so maybe that's the color I should be looking for lol.

That really sucks about the shoe polish. I love the look of the prairie bag, and have considered getting one, I'm just not sure if it'd be quite big enough for me. Your bag looks lovely otherwise, so hopefully the shoe polish won't prove to be too stubborn of a problem.

I just bathed my taupe Manor this afternoon, and it's definitely the one I'm struggling with the most as far as figuring out how I want to shape it as it dries to get the end result I want. I think I have it figured out, but won't know for sure until it's more dry. The front flap seems to be drying flat without any warping (knock on wood), which I was concerned about after some recent posts here, so hopefully it stays that way.
I'm almost finished with the rehab of my Crosby. I polished the hardware yesterday, and now it just needs one more coat--maybe 2--of Blackrock to be done. It's taken me so long because I really wanted everything to look perfect and that's just not going to happen lol, but it does look so much better than it did before, and good enough that I'll be happy to carry it.

Oh no...the dreaded shoe polish. I've heard it's very difficult to remove. Do you think the stickiness will go away?? It looks like it will be a lovely bag if you can work some of your magic on it.

It seems less sticky now it's drying. I think as I was using warm water it was maybe softening the wax or something in it.. Idk but my hands kept getting sticky.

It was called a mini hippie. It sold for $128 in 2000. There were several similar hippie bags made around the same time. They were only made for a year or two, but other hippie styles have been offered by Coach in later years. I guess the inspiration could have been the Bonnie Cashin body bag from the 1970s. It's not the same shape but it is flat like the hippie. I have another Bonnie Cashin bag that is flat also. I don't know the name of it.

Thank you so much for the information! I'm having so much fun learning the history of these bags!

It looks blue inside to me. I wonder if it will be so dark it appears black once it's conditioned. I'm sorry about your smoky surprise. I got one that knocked me over when I opened the box; so I sealed it up in a bag while I took the box outside! How is it going with the smoky smell? I posted about aggressive smoke removal  on a Regina in the rehab thread recently. White vinegar was amazing!

I haven't had time to deal with the smell, I'll have to go through old posts to collect some advice on that. I'm once again impressed with the old Costa Rican leather though, I have to say it again. It's a 1998 bag and after just 2 coats of Leather CPR the bag feels like velvety buttery luxury. Maybe it just feels so good because my last rehab was a 1995 Manor and that leather is made to be stiffer. Idk, but I love this bag, stink and all. I do have white vinegar, do you think I should dunk it again with vinegar? I was going to try charcoal or some other granules I read about.
