Ok, making good on a promise I made at the buying ban thread to post a collection shot here on the vintage thread: this is my collection of vintage & near-vintage smooth leather Coach plus a couple outliers. All the bags on the main part of the couch are unlined leather bags ranging from a 1980s NYC to early 2000s Legacy. All are made in US except the black Court (made in Italy) and the blue Janice (made in Costa Rica). The 2 on the couch arm are the outliers: the red bucket is a 2002 Made in China bag with sig C lining and the black turnlock is not a Coach at all but a "cousin," my Bonnie Cashin for Meyers bag which I believe is from the 1970s. Nothing too flashy here, but I've taken care to acquire nice neutral pieces I will use a fair bit. Some day I would like to splash out on some vintage bags in more colors: a yellow, red and green in EUC would top my list.
Beautiful set!! How is the Italian leather compared to NYC? Thank you for taking these pictures!

I would say the Italian bag's leather feels the same as my others. All my old Coaches are beautifully made, but I will say the overall construction and detail work on the Court made in the Italian plant looks especially polished.
And btw @tealocean, my Janice's Legacy made in Costa Rica is also awesome: construction & leather both excellent with a super buttery soft feel. If you ever see a good deal on a beautiful vintage Coach, I would not hesitate buying just because it comes from the Costa Rica plant and not a US one.

I long for a Cody Bag 9964, a Organizer Pouch 9645, a Ranch Bag 9852 (any color but black) and a Coach United Airlines Saddle Pouch. I'm not certain if this is the correct name. It may be a Coach Stewardess that was made for United Airlines.
That's all for now... :flowers:
I am fascinated by the Cody too! The good news is that I see the Ranch regularly on eBay. The bad news is most of the time it is simply listed as a vintage Coach as sellers don’t know the name. I got lucky and found mine at a GW while visiting my mother in FL. I was completely unfamiliar with the style at the time. I thought it was a Stewardess at first and thought, where are the feet? That was the beginning of the dawning to me that there were lots and lots of vintage styles out there, unknown to me.
From what I have read here, it was a Stewardess, made specifically for United. It was slightly smaller than the original Stewie with a non riveted, non piping strap with a UA logo imprint.

Finally finished my United Airlines Stewardess. I really didn't know what I was going to get. She ended up being a gorgeous deep mahogany. I thought I was going to lose the UA symbol on the strap during dunking because it was quite lightly embossed, but it is still there.

I dunked and scrubbed her and applied a coat of almond oil and leather therapy but I wasn't happy. There seemed to be shiny parts and the conditioner wasn't really making a difference. So I scrubbed her down with industrial grade acetone and re-dunked. Three coats of LT, two coats of Obenauf's with days and days in between each coat and lots of buffing. Finally a coat of Black Rock and more buffing. She 's far from perfect. There are some small areas of worn piping and she's still a bit slouchy, but I can live with that.

The first pic is from the ebay listing. The rest are after shots. Here is the link to the before pics http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-cl...-photos-and-chat-857690-242.html#post27172484

I'm also going to post some pics in Vintage Photos and Chat and in the Reference Thread, comparing the UA with the regular Stewardess.

I love these retro pics. I think they are both smaller, I think I read somewhere that United had them made to certain specs. I will see if I can find where I saw that.
Little morning search for the UA Stewie! In addition to people who share my fascination with vintage Coach, the amount of information posted in the site is a-may-zing! The link from Two.time.bags for the Reference thread shows a nice size by side for the Stewardess bags.

In fact, Costa Rica bags should be searched for specifically. Awesome leather! :-) Thanks to the tips here earlier in this thread, that is the leather I looked for specifically when I bought my Court bag.

I have a Court in camel and I keep it only because it's from Costa Rica and it feels so good. I don't like the color though. I thought camel would be so much prettier in real life.

Hi all! I recently got the book "Bonnie Cashin: Chic is Where You Find It" and thought folks might enjoy these pix from her collab with Coach in the 1960s. The Coach years make up a relatively small part of the book, but I recommend it as her fashion career as a whole is very interesting!

Thank you for sharing information about this book, I recently picked it up from the library and I am enjoying reading it. Our local library didn't have it in their collection but they got it from another library in the system.

Bonnie Cashin was a fascinating woman and her influence on fashion was far greater than I ever realized! For example, who knew that it was Bonnie that first popularized leather boots in women's fashions?!
