The nice thing is we are not alone here! :ghi5:
I enjoy the hobby aspect, collecting aspect and having great bags to rotate through depending on my mood. I have everything from a more contemporary satchel, to a few like new vintage, to some rehabbed beater patina bags I love, to every day working breeds to smaller glorified wallets LOL I use on weekends. And stalled/failed rehabs/what was I thinking/parts bags! No apologies, no explanations needed here and I love it.
Make your collections and rehabs rock!
Exactly!!!! It’s a worthwhile thing to collect. I kind of look at at as recycling.... with immediate benefits.:blush:

I feel like finding these bags is practical and stylish upcycling and sustainability. I made a commitment to myself many years ago to buy preowned clothing , shoes and bags when possible. Last summer I purchased a bag at factory store. It was my first retail bag purchase in 11 years!

That is a great way to look at it! And it is awesome how these bags fare for the long term. When I carry my 1960s bag, I am like, wow...this is kind of cool to have a bag from back then. (but I feel the same about my 80s and 90s bags I have acquired too--funny how that is vintage now, lol!)

I will admit I am not much of a preowned buyer other than handbags. But I donate a ton of stuff all of the time, so I recycle my items on the regular.

That is very cool! I’m always surprised at what I can find at thrift/antique stores.

View attachment 4397077 View attachment 4397078 FWIW, with the suede side too, that doesn’t reflect light, the Patti is 1996, as is the Berkeley and the Ranch, with the burgundy undertones is ~1990?
ETA, to left, behind , Berkeley Flap, # 9014, left, Patricia’s Legacy, right, Ranch Bag.
I love my Patty too!:hbeat: I have looked for and almost pulled the trigger on a ranch bag. How do you like it in comparison to the Patty?

Does anyone here have a Sheridan bag that is tan with tan trim? I have attached a catalog post of the lovely Savannah hobo No. 4222 style and it says it is tan with tan trim. However, I've been searching online and I've come across a few listings that have kind of a rust color. One example: https://offerup.com/item/detail/657685320/ and https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m27935712123/?ref=search_results. I didn't purchase either and I'm not an authenticator. I just was curious if these 2 items that were sold (if authentic Sheridans) would also have been considered tan with tan trim or if there is another color I'm unaware of in this family that is more of a rust/auburn color. It just looked like these bags were different colors than the catalog listing.

No, there's just that one combination that was called Tan with Tan trim. Colors can fade over time. And some colors that look different than they do on other Sheridans may be on fake bags, especially if the trim looks more orange than usual.

And for heaven's sake, DON'T expect sellers to know the correct color names, style names, style family names, dates of manufacture, or style numbers, or whether or not something can correctly be called a "Cashin style" or "Cashin-era" bag

I like them both very much. The Ranch has the big open compartment , with a back flap big enough for my iPad Air. The leather on it is the softest for a USA bag I have had my hands on. The Patti is smaller, and doesn’t carry my iPad. But the leather flap is really smooshy, I like doubling over the strap and I can load it up decently.

Family photo! Took me a little while to get down to bags that work best for me, but here they are!
Wow! Your collection is amazing. Congrats on all your vintage finds. Enjoy them all.

No it never ends! I just bought 4 crossbody bags in all different styles. You are right, it is getting harder to find some vintage bags! Rehab is addicting and there are many rehabbers now. Any time I am browsing vintage Coach I'm running into beautifully rehabbed bags! Are we going to run out of things to rehab? Eek! [emoji51] I hope not!

Here are the ones I had just recently found. There's a red one in there. Big surprise! [emoji12][emoji38][emoji16]View attachment 4380716
Congrats! Great colors.

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone owns a Costa Rican-made bag? I've love to know what the leather and hardware are like - i'm eyeing up a City bag on etsy, but have never owned one made in CR. Thanks!

Ok, now I have to ask this even if it makes me look like a total dunce. What the heck is the color of my Willis?View attachment 4397338
I was just wondering if you bought the black one off ebay? I used to have the same one (the one Hyachinth posted pics of). I loved using it, but sold it on since I was moving and needed to clear out some bags. If it's that same one, I hope you are enjoying it!

I did buy it on ebay, about September of last year. Was that around the same time you sold yours?? I am enjoying it! Very much!

I have several and I LOVE THEM. I just rehabbed a Costa Rican Rambler's Legacy on Sunday and it feels so soft already. Other bags that I've dunked have felt stiff and/or needed many coats of CPR to feel soft again. The hardware is the same in my opinion. But the leather is amazing! I shop for Costa Rican bags now.

ETA: by shop for them I mean that if I have to choose between the same style of bag made in Costa Rica vs. made anywhere else I will choose the Costa Rican bag even if it's a little more expensive. This is just my opinion though, others may not agree!
