I do have a little boxy mahogany bag somewhere from either 96 or 97, that does not have the burgundy undertones, so beware. I seem to notice us talking about the burgundy undertones from bags in the ‘88-ish to ‘93-ish period. Others are encouraged to confirm or correct this.
Ty! I love my hodgepodge collection

Ok, now I have to ask this even if it makes me look like a total dunce. What the heck is the color of my Willis?20180915_115146.jpg

No, not at all. Colors of bags are the $64,000 question! And ongoing discussion topic  It might, emphasis might help if you had another mahogany to photograph with. I will look through some catalogue photos when I can to confirm it was offered in Taupe. Which I guess it was as it was popular.
What year is it?
ETA Sniped

1997, made in Turkey. It's actually a really ugly Willis, I bought it a couple of years ago from a rehabber off of Facebook and it was not nicely rehabbed. I think it was painted and it didn't even come with a Coach strap. I paid $65 for it too!! Oh lordy I've learned a lot since then and I've got a lot of learning yet to do.

ETA: I may have just answered my own question. If it was painted then who could ever know it's true color. Omg, sorry guys. I'll go back to just lurking for a while...ha ha ha!

In my opinion it has been recolored. The color is too perfect overall and the finish does not look natural. Zoom in on picture #6 and notice how the edge of the color can be seen on the left side next to the piping.

I encourage you to ask the seller what products were used in "restoring" the bag.

Gosh, I didn't even see that in photo #6! Thank you! Yes, too much product for me. I don't mind a little on the corners and such to cover wear, but that is a lot to create such a heavy line!
Okay, I did scroll ALL the way down and it mentions bags may need dye, pigment, leather paint. The seller is fluent in “rehab”.

I wouldn’t sweat it. No one has booted me off for some of my long winded rambles. Yet. Then again, there may be a secret vote going on . . . Lol

There's no mention of Taupe at all in my 1997 catalogs, so like you mentioned, the original color could have been anything. Fall colors for the Willis for that year were Mahogany, Black, Blue, British Tan, Navy and Red. Early 1998 was the same with the addition of Loden Green. There's no Gray shown until 1998 and it's not listed as a Willis color.

I can pull mine out later and take a photo.

I would love a Gramercy NS satchel! I was just looking at them in a catalog I just bought! I am wondering how well the pig skin lining cleans up.

Many have answered the Taupe/Mahogany question and I will add to it. I have been carrying my Patti in Taupe all week. I will take a photo with my Ranch /Berkeley flap in Mahogany with it and see if my photo skills can do it the job. I am drawn to the deep warm chocolate of the various shades of mahogany. The cooler Taupe is immediately noticeable if you see it in real life.
Side note, it was not love at first sight with Taupe for me. But the bag grew on me. I believe it was the smooshy flap.

@Lake Effect Thank you! That would be awesome! :D

Does anyone have experience with this ebay seller? I would love a vintage grey Court with gold hardware, but this looks like it was spray-painted with house paint. I realize they say it is "restored". Is it just the lighting?

I bought my Regina from her. She was a great seller, and packaged the item nicely with a note included. The listing for mine specifically said it had only been dunked and conditioned with CPR. The bag looked great when I got it. As for gray, the gray Court I bought from someone else looked nice in pics, but even more beautiful in person. I think it is possible the color is difficult to capture. But I would ask her about what she did in the rehab. She is very good at communicating and easy to work with.

Off topic: What is the style name of the black bag in the center called? I don't recall seeing this one before.

It doesn't have a name, it's one of those special edition bags that never really went into production. Hyacinth did a little mystery bag feature on this style a while back and there just happened to be one for sale on ebay right at that moment, so I bought it. It was described as a Court/Willis hybrid but I'm not sure if that's an official description. It's a neat little bag, I like it! The style number is 9989 and it was made in 1996 in the A plant, USA.
