Has there ever been an official Spectator Duffle Sac? The Duffle Drawstring is a separate style with a different closure. The 6022 drawstring is the Spectator version of the Lightweight/Soho Duffle Drawstring #4022.
Wow.I have this Spectator Duffle Sac in my possession.

I'll be DARNED. I'm gobsmacked too, now I understand how the M&M felt.
CGJames, do you have any other details? It has to be late 1980s unless it's one of those few oddball bags from 1991-92 that ended up with pre-1990 formatted serial numbers. Is the number 967-9026?
Off to look through some old catalogs...
YES! 967-9026
I've only seen one other bag like this - a couple years ago one went on eBay for $100. I was in the middle of submitting an offer when it sold - it had been listed only minutes so someone must've been looking for it. I saw this one and I was going to keep it for myself because it's so rare and in gorgeous condition, but I just can't do black bags!
It's a Rare Bird all right, I just looked through at least a dozen late 80s-early 90s catalogs including reading every Duffle Sac listing to see if there was any mention of an available Spectator version that hadn't included a photo, but no luck.
If anyone has any info on the style number (6085 would be my guess but sometimes they varied from the standard numbering) or when it was made, I hope they'll post. Meanwhile, maybe someone here will spot another one.
BTW, I appreciate what you said about not liking black bags. When I lived at home my mom always bought my purses, 1 black one for school and a beige one for church, and by the time I started working and doing my own shopping I was so bloody tired of black bags that I never wanted to see another one. Even the very few I've bought since then just end up in the back of the closet. The more colors I have, the better. Gimme red, gimme purple, gimme electric blue, gimme mad colors in crazy patterns - just NO black!![]()

When we bought our Suburban, both DH and I knew we wanted a dark green. We loved that car. When it finally died and we had to buy a new car last year, we ended up with silver. DH hates that our car looks like every other car on the road. They didn't have any pretty blues or greens. The best thing about the silver is that the handles don't get hot in the summer. The white version of our car has black handles so those get hot.Totally off topic, but your post made me smile. I've always purchased cars that are silver grey or beige tan because "they don't show the dirt!"
And I remember my dear Father, now passed, once surprised me by saying "Why do you always insist on buying cars that are casket-colored?!"
My current car is a gorgeous shade of Obsidian Blue and when I bought it I remember thinking "Dad, if you're watching, I know that you'll like the color of my new car!"
I started out always buying neutral bags that were black, brown, or beige - but I soon learned the joy of putting some color in my life! My teal Sydney bag was my first "colorful bag" and after buying her there was no stopping me!

I'm like you with the brown. Forgiving, but shows some veining and a bit of patina. When we bought our Suburban, both DH and I knew we wanted a dark green. We loved that car. My favorite bag color way back when was brown because it was still neutral but showed the beauty of the leather. When I started acquiring lots of bags, I gravitated to bags in beautiful colors for variety. I shunned black bags partly because I kept seeing people wearing black bags that should have been junked. I have more black bags now than I would like because I liked the style and that was all that was available at the time, or the style works best in black.

I agree with you! I've never been one who is able to pull off black bags. I really like red and British Tan - my all-time favorite Coach colors. Taupe and putty aren't bad either. I just acquired a red Original Rambler, and I'm in love with it!! Now I have one in both BT and red!
