It can be tricky. To open it, you pull the button straight out and lift. To close it, you have to line up the post with the opening and pull the button out, slip the post into the opening, push and let go of the button so the spring mechanism catches the post. I had a lot of trouble at first but after some practice I finally got the hang of it.
Thank you! That never occurred to me.

I just found a neat wristlet kinda make up pouch, pencil case shave bag kinda thing.. never seen this one before. I havent ever come across any good vintage slgs in the past so Im pretty excited about this. It's long: 11 x 4.5. X 1 deep. BurgandyView attachment 4034731 View attachment 4034730

Kind of looks like the Document Case in this old pamphlet photo.

ETA: I don't think the dimensions are correct in the pamphlet photo. It looks too narrow to be 7" high...

Not sure! I found it on Pinterest.
Oh okay. I can see how it would be a good size for receipts.. or maybe passports or folded documents. After I give her a good bath I think I'll be using it in my laptop cases which are vintage, to hold a notepad and pencil and tape measure in. Too bad it's missing the hang tag by the look of the picture.

The pamphlet could be incorrect. The picture looks right, but the name, number, and dimensions aren't. 9560 is a slim pouch standard, that has those dimensions.

Interesting! So do you happen to know the real document cases style number? It is very similar in style to those slim clutches. Just long and skinny.
No, I don't. I'm pretty sure what you got isn't called a document case. A document case would be paper sized and skinny. I think I've seen yours before but I can't find a catalog picture of it.

Interesting! So Coach truly got it all wrong in that catalog. That's kinda funny. It's an odd shaped bag that's for sure. It really does seem like it'll fit nicely in a slim satchel but not in most handbags at all. Too long.

Thank you, looks right. ... Should there be a serial number?
It's ok if it doesn't. Have to refresh my memory about the Sheridan collection. I am not sure what determined which plant or location got serial numbers and why. And don't be surprised if there isn't a reason. Lol. Coach history has a lot of inconsistency.
