LOL! Maybe I should ask the seller if her price is firm. I think most people will think it doesn't look new without tags. Did you notice that only one side of the purse is pictured? The first and second pictures are of the same side.

Yep. I was willing to take the chance. I have the Carry-all Tote 4019 in black, that I LOVE. I thought this smaller bag in red would be a good option to have around.

Another Dinky Gift Bag (a moniker I fabricated to differentiate it from the similarly sized Dinky Shopping Bag that has the thick rope-cored straps with the external "badge" shaped terminations). That makes three in a few weeks (a navy one, the pink one Catbird9 scored, and now this one). IMO, even $70 may be wishful thinking given that the zipper needs to be replaced (unless someone can find a suitable slide and retrofit it to the one there).

I'm interested in the story behind the two-sided straps (pics 1&2) v. the straps with piping (3). Were the two-sided straps only produced in certain years or for certain styles? I don't see the two-sided ones often, but most seem near perfect color/patina matches to the bag so I'm assuming they're legit (?)
Any info would be appreciated!

They are probably legit. It depends on what bags they are on. There were styles that were made with the two sided straps. There was also a period of time when Coach allowed people to substitute straps when they purchased a bag, and also there were replacements straps sold. At one point, everything came in the same ten colors so it was easy to find a matching strap. Here is a strap I once found for sale that still had the price tag.

Aha, thank you! I knew I'd seen those a little too frequently for them to be random one-off replacements. Seems like there was a magical window of 'anything goes' for straps.

It's back. For those of you that sell, what are some of the reasons people back off their bids/purchases?? Isn't buyer's remorse frowned upon? And yeah I am sure it happens all the time though.

Reappearances can be due to either returns or a sale never being consummated. But specific to your query, as a buyer I'll offer that there an infinite number of reasons, both valid and dubious, to seek to return items. Specific to the item you've identified, I suspect that the condition of it did not match the buyers expectations relative to probably both what the listing disclosed (in pictures and words) and the price that was paid. Again, the actual condition of leather can really only be determined by actually handling it. Photos and words typically do not suffice.

As I've mentioned previously, dry leather (beyond the point of no return) and issues with the binding seem to recurrent in larger bag styles from the early-to-mid 1970s. Executing a full replacement of upper edge binding (even when the underlying body leather is in good repair) can take several hours even if you have the correct strip stock already dyed to match (since you have to transfer the existing holes). And this is assuming that the body leather is still pliable. If that's not the case, then sadly the bag is a museum piece destined for sitting on a collector's shelf.

Buyer's remorse, changed their mind, realized they overpaid, many reasons. The seller accepts returns, so there's no problem returning the bag for any reason, or no reason at all. eBay's policy now is that the buyer can cancel the transaction within one hour for any reason if the seller hasn't marked it shipped. PayPal now has a service where they'll pay your return shipping under certain conditions. These policies reflect the reality of buying and selling on the internet. People change their minds.

What everyone else said, or the buyer didn't pay. Maybe she got caught up in the bidding and realized she didn't want to pay that much.
There was something wrong with the bids:

This shouldn't have happened. A person shouldn't have been able to bid $72 or $81 if the price of the item was already over $140.
@BeenBurned Can you explain this?

Reactions: Lake Effect

Not as optimistic as THIS seller:

The same bag was commented on here 2 1/2 years ago, and the price has only been cut by $50 since then. As much as I love vintage Dakotas, even I wouldn't pay what she's asking, original tags or not:
