I'm sorry I don't know. I have it in my files with no name. I also don't have the name to 4192, a similar style. Hyacinth might know. You might want to post it in the ID thread. http://forum.purseblog.com/threads/...st-any-coach-item-name-questions-here.355205/

I never found that # 4191 in a catalog. One source called it a Lexington Soft Shoulder Bag, but Salearea actually found a NWT example that also still had the sales receipt from 1996 and the tag said "Soft Kelly Bag", so that would be what I'd consider a solid ID. If your photos are showing the color accurately, I'd say it was Taupe, made in January 1996.

I think the odd strap attachment caused problems for potential buyers, other than the buckle adjustment there's no way to keep the strap from moving around and through those top loops. You wouldn't want to load it up too heavily or the bag would probably pucker at the top if the strap was at its full length. That's probably why it has those strange red ties around it where it goes through the loops.

ETA - Sorry, the Reply button didn't work or I messed up my reply.

I just read the purseblog feature on bag-shoe combos for fall, each costing more than I normally spend on a car. I propose a game: we pair our vintage/classic coaches with shoes or boots for fall, posting the photos here, to show how normal gals do it. I will go first: This is my Coach 65th anno Whiskey vachetta Alli with my Frye 150th anno Whiskey distressed leather Campus boots. Cost; $150 for the boots (new, on sale) $50 for the bag (thrifted). Touche!

Nice! Here's mine. NYC Companion Bag ($28 on eBay; rehabbed) with K-Mart Route 66 brown leather flats ($25 bought new several years ago).

Wow! That rehab went great. My companion bag looks peaky by comparison. But here it is, a thrifted find ($30), with a pair of Naturalizer pumps bought at Macy's 5 years ago ($30).

And because we take our vintage Coaches out at night, here is a mid-1990s Watson (thrifted $10) with the Frye Harness boots I wear with it to concerts ($150, Macy's 2 years ago).

Love them all.

Unhappiness is hitting the confirm order button and having etsy report "Sorry, this item was sold" because someone else was faster than you in checking out. Imagine, $60 for a red mid 1960s Attache? If that isn't a once-in-a-lifetime steal, I don't know what is. So close, but not close enough...

Wow, what a bargain! I'm sorry you didn't get it. I hope it wasn't a reseller.

Disturbed enough to send the seller a "what are you doing?" message along with info relating to its real value. I suspect I was acting on impure "share the disappointment" motives. After all, to get through the checkout process only to have the rug pulled out at the last step is such a letdown. Was almost hoping the seller would null the transaction due to "listing error" and give it another go, but then had second thoughts about depriving another collector of the joy of such a find (assuming that it was a collector who scored it).

I suppose we'll see in the next few weeks if indeed it was a reseller who managed to check out faster, and if so, what the mark-up would be. Should that be the case, I'm sure that my disappointment will only be renewed and magnified.

It has happened to me that I've won an item only to have the seller cancel the transaction because someone contacted them and told them they sold it too cheaply.
