I'm guessing the high price is due to it's rarity......you just don't see very many of them? I could be wrong but like you I had never heard of it either and I've had Coach bags for years!

Some Coach bags are very popular on their own - like Musettes. Swags are also popular but very rare. No idea how many were originally made. Original Musettes are also very rare and neither the Swag or the Original Musette are in any of the catalogs I've seen.

Others are the result of clever marketing. The Pony Express has always been popular but lately it has gotten out of control. They are very small and essentially useless so I am not about to spend a lot of money on one. If you like the style, search for an Amanda. They are a modern version of the Pony Express and you can sometimes pick them for a very reasonable price.

I buy what I really like and often it is something no one ever thought about until a photo is posted. My absolute favorite bag is the Organizer Pouch. I came across it in one of the Coach catalogs. It has the double gusseted pockets on the front like the Musette family and flat double pockets inside right behind the gusseted outside ones. It is roomy but not huge and I think it is an absolute Coach classic. Here are some photos of it and a page from the catalog. As it happens, I own every bag on that page. Not that I am addicted. :-)

Is this fake? It looks weird to me, but like I said I'm not familiar with all styles and lines.

There is nothing wrong with that bag. It was one of the lines produced as a tribute to Bonnie Cashin. It isn't vintage.

I'm the one who first posted a picture of the organizer pouch; then I was trying to be good so I passed up the listings of them! Now that you keep raving about it, I realize it was stupid to be good.

I think the Amanda is smaller than Pony Express. We were discussing it earlier in this thread.

Here is an Amanda: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Amand...860?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234ff8407c According to the seller it is about 8 x 6 x 2. The Pony Express is 11 x 8 x 3. Still small, but not as useless as an Amanda.

From Left to Right, the Musette Family

Musette in British Tan, Original (Suspender) Musette in White, Carrier in Mahogany, Swag in Mocha. This will give you an idea of the sizes.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this picture! I love to see pictures of multiple bags as it really helps for size reference. Plus they are so drool worthy you really couldn't post too many pictures of them!

At the crazy prices right now, I will pass on the Pony Express bags. I do like them just not at the crazy prices. I had no idea you posted the Organizer Pouch on this list. I happened to come across one on Etsy but had some questions about it. The bag sold before I could buy it. But...the seller is a really nice person and she told me about another one for sale so I got it and at a really good price. If you like a bag that is a bit bigger, there is also the Knapsack. It's a large bag but not overwhelming. I got mine from a lady who has since become a really good friend.

The color of this bag is called, "Caked Black Cofee." That is courtesy of Debi Nemetz who got it from Jed. Here are some photos of Bette. The last one is during rehab. She is nice and clean now. There is a single open pocket inside about 7 x 7 The dimensions are 12" x 11.5" x 3".

*adds Organizer Pouch to list*

P.s. Is it long enough to wear cross body?

That one is gorgeous!

You had been away from the purse forum for awhile when I posted the picture of the organizer pouch. It was in a mini-catalog. Right after I posted it, we found one listed, then another, and then you posted yours. We were laughing about it because it seems like whenever we talk about a rare bag, very shortly we see exactly three of them.

This is where the discussion started, post 4215: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-cl...-photos-and-chat-857690-281.html#post27670668

Well, I know some people who hope that happens with Swags. Some had them and let them go and now regret it. The would love to see a couple of them listed. As for the Organizer Pouch, I was browsing Etsy and came across one in BT but it sold before I could buy it. The buyer told me about the other one and it ended up being absolutely perfect. I LOVE that bag and I am always tempted to take it with me but I have a lot of bags so try to use different ones all the time. The same thing happened with the Knapsack. I was browsing Etsy and there it was. I scooped it up and made a great friend too. Then I found a second one in black on Tradesy. It was in rough shape poor thing but it looks good now. Then last Sunday, I came across the Swag. Now I need to get that lucky with the lottery! :-D

I hope this thread is never taken down, I love going back to look at all the pics of the lovely bags & catalogs photos. I enjoy reading all the posts from you lovely Ladies. I haven't exactly figured out how to properly comment on posts. Quote, the circle, Qreply then Post Quick Reply & Go Advanced? I hope to figure it all out soon and stop looking like an idiot.

I know I don't need any more bags, but seeing all the lovely bags you Ladies have just makes me want to search for a few more... I have been looking for A Baxter lately. All the bags in my closet are covered in dust covers and as I peeked inside them today I found a black Baxter on the bottom shelf. It's in new condition with the paper still inside. I was in complete shock as I didn't remember having it at all. I must sound completely mindless at this point. I do love reading all of your post and it makes me feel connected to others that share my passion. Thank you all for being here and sharing.

Congratulations on finding that Swag! That and the Postman's bag are on my dream bag list. You were so lucky to find that Swag in such wonderful condition. I own a Musette, purchased in like new condition, for which I paid dearly. I absolutely love carrying it.
