Hi
Question about the Megan bag you own in Navy, are the inside seams on your bag unfinished? I have seen several of these bags, one on Sacs Magnifiqes and am surprised at the unfinished seems. I know this bag was shown in the '93 catalog as part of the "Classic Brights" .I just bought one in Jade and the seems are rough looking inside. Thanks
Yes the seams are unfinished. Maybe they blew the budget on lining the flap!

Ha! I thought maybe it was the way they designed this collection but I have the Kimball Zip 9911 in Stone and its beautiful inside. I adore these small cross body bags. Perfect for hanging at your side at the Martini bar. Your hands are free to sip your Cosmo and snack on Happy Hour treats, without worrying about where to put your bag. I have a small wallet I use with my Happy Hour bags , a lipstick, comb and glasses, all I need. Yeah, life is good with a small bag!

Here's a comparison of two red Madison colors. June 96 scarlet Biltmore next to a December 95 garnet Chapin:
Your Biltmore is so pretty, love the red. I've been hunting for a nice condition Italy bag including the larger Drake but haven't been able to find any with a undamaged turnlock (for a reasonable price :p). The ones I've seen are badly tarnished and scratched - can they be buffed clean in some way, Brasso maybe? Are they a different metal from those used in the Classic turnlocks? (Sorry if this should be on the rehab section but since I'm only in the shopping stage I'd thought I'd ask.)

I think they scratch very easy. I had one that was new with tags and the hardware was scratched. Opening and closing the turnlock is going to make marks. I wouldn't polish them much because they are just brass plated, and since the brass finish is brushed, polishing will make them have shiny spots. At most, I would use fine steel wool with vinegar.

Thanks. It's probably very pretty but hard to say. I have benefitted in the past from poorly photographed bags. My dark green Sonoma nubuc flap looked bright blue in the pics!
Doesn't it seem like there are more green Sonoma nubuc flaps than any other color? When I try to find another one, or a natural grain, the green nubuc seems to get listed more often and at better prices!

Yeah, I kinda want a lipstick/cherry red bag like the Biltmore .... but I dunno. It may be a passing phase that I need to let go. I have five perfectly good bags. Honestly, I just had a "craving" flung on me. LOL

I don't think one can have too many true red bags, imvho. Go for it! :giggles:

Thank you! Good Gracies/ Biltmores/ Copleys/ Drakes can get real expensive real quick. I haven't tried to restore Madison hardware. It is extremely delicate, and I fear it is beyond my skill level to restore properly at this time. The scarlet Biltmore above was purchased as NWT and obviously never used (still has plastic on the strap, tag attached, etc), but the turnlock still has shelf wear. At this point, I've acquired 8 Madison bags with turnlocks, and only one (blue Gracie) has a turnlock in perfect condition. I'm not sure if this is a large enough sample size to draw a conclusion, but I've decided to not worry about the condition of Madison hardware.

Thanks for the tips! I'm afraid to try even fine steel wool with vinegar. Has that worked well for you?

Honestly I can't remember if I tried it on a Madison or not. I've used it on other bags but they didn't have the brushed hardware. If I saw tarnish, I would at least use vinegar, maybe on the q-tip. I don't think I would bother with scratches because I think any polishing is going to make a shiny spot, similar to the worn marks you get where the turnlock rubs. Actually in looking at mine closely, it looks silver where it has worn, so I think the brass plating is very thin and anything you do will probably damage it further. I know that my later bags with brass hardware, like 2006 Legacy and 2007 Bleecker, also don't respond well to polishing.

Oh, that's so pretty!
I know this has been discussed before, but I've forgotten…why is the bidder's feedback on this item marked private?
Apparently it's an option so the bidder doesn't disclose their identity (except to the seller). I don't know much about it, but I imagine there must be an extra fee for ebay for the privilege of being a 'secret' bidder.

I've bought too many bags this month so can't afford this one, and shipping to me is $40!

Shh! I was going to sneak it and get it for a steal! Oh well, I guess I'll just wait for a red one.

I don't think it costs extra. I sold something to a very big seller who has private feedback for her buying account. I wonder if it is so she can tell sellers what she really thinks and no one will block her; or maybe she just does it so no one can connect what she paid with how much she sells them for. She never left me feedback so I assume it's the latter.
