Awesome, Whateve! I plan to carry mine too when I finish it. I don't think I showed you this bag. It is another of my treasures and authenticated by Jed Winokur. It's not suede though. It is an early Cashin-Carry bag from 1964. In the second photo you can see the brass which has been a lot of work to clean. It looks lumpy because I have it stuffed. The bag measures 14" x 12.5" x 5" - so very large.
Whoa! That is gorgeous! Love the color. It looks like the prototype for the later Coach Weston Shopper. I love that pebbled leather.

I know, I was so looking forward to wearing her. In retrospect, I wish I had returned it, but I thought maybe I could rejig the strap but then realized more holes wasn't the way to go. Too bad, because it is in pristine condition. Do you know what the color is called? It's kind of a mint green color.
It might be celadon. I would try to get something like a dog collar that you could buckle on and it would extend the strap about 8 inches. You might be able to find a gold chain so it wouldn't have to match the leather. Or you could get really creative and paint a leather one to match.

I was thinking the same thing!

Celadon sounds about right. I have seen a store on eBay that sells all sorts of straps, leather and chain which might actually work (the chain ones, I mean). It's a shame to have such a pretty summery purse locked up in a closet for the rest of her life.

Question:

How do production dates on vintage Coach serial numbers match up with the seasons they were actually sold in? For example, if a bag was made in October, could it have been for the following spring season?
Maybe. It is hard to tell sometimes. Usually I'll see creed dates that are about 4 months to 6 months before the first catalog appearance.

OK. Just wondering about color of this particular style and season. It was available in Spring 1997 according to the catalog page I found on here but the creed shows made in October, 1996.

Did the catalog page show that it was new? If it didn't then that doesn't prove it wasn't available before that.

What was it? Coach introduced nickel hardware around that time so sometimes a 1996 production date is a red flag for a bag with nickel hardware.

I saw the catalog pages for Spring and Fall, 1996 and Spring 1997 and that color was only available in Spring 1997. I'd rather not say what bag it is.

I'm just pondering right now. Not sure if I'll actually buy it. In fact, I doubt I will because I just had to get a new cell phone that I'm gonna go ahead and pay off so I don't have a contract. But it's fun to look and ponder. :)

A creed would have to be off by a year or more for us to say a bag might be fake unless there are other problems with the bag or creed.

Here's a comparison of two red Madison colors. June 96 scarlet Biltmore next to a December 95 garnet Chapin:

Yeah, I kinda want a lipstick/cherry red bag like the Biltmore .... but I dunno. It may be a passing phase that I need to let go. I have five perfectly good bags. Honestly, I just had a "craving" flung on me. LOL

I get the impression you are searching for something green, whateve! That Megan is so cute. I have one in navy blue that I'm keeping for just that reason. It's too small for anything else! :D
Hi
Question about the Megan bag you own in Navy, are the inside seams on your bag unfinished? I have seen several of these bags, one on Sacs Magnifiqes and am surprised at the unfinished seems. I know this bag was shown in the '93 catalog as part of the "Classic Brights" .I just bought one in Jade and the seems are rough looking inside. Thanks
