What does one say when calling Coach to inquire about hangtags? Do you tell them it's for a vintage bag? If so, are they still willing to help? For some reason I can't believe that they would be....
I've had some trouble if the bag is so old it isn't in their system. They ask you for the creed number and I don't think they understand unique serial numbers. Don't say you bought the bag on ebay. Act like you have had the bag but lost the hangtag. If you go to a Coach outlet, you can probably get a leather one, if they have one the right color.

Obviously, I would never say that I bought it on eBay. I would act like I bought it at the Coach store and have had it for years ;)

What would you do? Got my lovely slim satchel. (Still obsessing about it, yes!).

It came with a battered store tag/label beneath the stamping. Which, of course, came off after dunking, leaving a gluey residue.

Would you reapply the now even more dilapidated fabric tag--("Stacey's")--?

Or just remove the residue and forget about it??

I would probably just remove the residue and put the tag in a plastic bag for safe-keeping. When I saw that bag listed, when I saw that tag at first I thought someone had attacked your bag with white-out! I think it is prettier without it.

Works for me. Was thinking I'd try to preserve the bag's history...but, you're right!

Thank you, as always, Whateve...

Ms. March '95 navy Madison Carlyle arrived today!

Of course, in less pristine condition than expected. It was listed as new without tags, which is always a crap shoot on eBay. The turnlock and strap buckle show significant use (scratches, as opposed to just tarnish, which would be normal), color loss on the edges in a couple of spots, and 3 small scratches on the front that went through the shine, but not the color. The hang tag must have really upset someone to get beaten so badly. Leather Therapy helped make the scratches on the front less obvious. But navy seems to be hard to find, so I'm leaning towards just dealing with it, as I do want it, and partial refunds are the way of the scammer.

Love it, bummer it wasn't as described.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
