Ha! Decided to disguise myself and wander into all the thrift stores, Good Neighbor shop, and Goodwill today in my search of a vintage Coach to re-hab. What a joke! I can only think everyone has gotten wise and the chance of finding anything even close to a leather bag is a pipe dream. As I have NEVER been able to do more than stare from my car window at a garage sale, I am thinking ebay is my only hope. I did HAVE a garage sale once but I don't think you should have to beg someone to take your stuff for a penny. It was cheaper to build a bigger garage.

It really depends on where you live. There aren't any leather bags in my town, which is a Walmart kind of town. Anywhere within 500 miles that would have a real Coach would charge more than ebay. There is a consignment store about 30 miles away that has Coach factory purses priced higher than they originally sold for, and there is a factory outlet not very far away.

This summer we traveled from New York through the South to California, stopping at thrift stores along the way. In Pennsylvania, all purses were $4, no matter what they were. I found a Coach for 50 cents in Georgia. Prices were higher in Florida, but I still found lots of good stuff, like a shoulder sac for $16. I found lots of things in Louisiana. At one store in a small town, I got a nubuc Sonoma for $4. In Oklahoma City, we met a lady who owned an antique shop. She invited us to her house and sold me her old Coach bags for $25 each.

It takes persistence to find something nice at a good price.

I'm going to the fancy schmancy private school's semi-annual rummage sale tomorrow. It's HUGE. Very curious to see if I find anything.
