One thing to keep in mind, an experienced seller of an authentic Coach bag will include a clear pic of the Creed in the listing, along with size of the bag and enough pics to show the overall condition. They will generally not hesitate to respond to questions, as they have nothing to hide.
If you ask a question of an online seller, and get any kind of attitude, hard sell or vagueness, move along. A seller not familiar with the counterfeit industry for Coach might not understand the importance showing a Creed pic. Do not rely on any explanations from sellers. Wait for a pic of the Creed.
Good advice! So many times I see listings for Coach bags with a photo of the hang tag and no creed pic, as if the hang tag was proof of authenticity lol!

Thanks so much for all your help! As a novice vintage Coach admirer, it’s hard to know what to look for when searching for bags.
There is a lot of info in the Shopping sub forum. I don’t want to overwhelm you. There is much to be learned by following the Authenticate This thread and reading the SaleArea Guides thread pinned to the top of the Shopping sub forum
And btw :welcome:

Where are all these small couriers you speak of? I'm in the market for one in good condition.

Listed earlier this year; well, this was so so looking in the listing so I passed. Hoku scored it, cleaned it up and here you go, one amazing Baby Courier -
I've been on the hunt to find crossbody straps for my Couriers. I love the original straps but sometimes, I just want a crossbody. I wanted a two tone strap to match my putty and tabac (?) Courier so I took the strap from a 9136 and managed to lighten the center of the strap and then I darkened the trim. If anyone else is looking to do something like this, here is the process.

I used a stiff plastic bristle brush to rough up the center and then kept wiping it down with denatured alcohol. I used Saphir medium brown dye (#5) to darken the trim. It took a while and I'm pretty sure I caused some tendonitis with this endeavor but I'm really happy with the results! I'll probably do another coat of dye for the trim but I will not rush - which is my biggest downfall.

I feel the same that more styles are showing up. Probably because of the price surge, people are more willing to let go. It is not the same with colors though, they seemed to have disappeared. I used to be able to see more yellows and oranges and blues(not blavy). You have to pay premium for those now like that Winnie listed for $2K. Black and brown Winnies are currently at 600-800 so it must be it being periwinkle that made it special.

Boy, I miss the days where I pay $30 for a bag! I blame instagram.
I never found much for yellow/orange listings but would would find listings for blues. I can still find random cheap bags locally. My girlfriend is my new lucky charm; the last two times out with her I found vintage Coach.
I hear you on $30 bags. I got spoiled on them. But since they are worth so much for the value, I will pay more. Now I am just choosier for style, color.
Instagram? Interesting. They have been popular with the younger crowd for a awhile. So that combined with social media makes sense. When I bought my flea market specials in 2016, the woman selling them said she sold vintage Coach steadily to younger women, say in their 20’s. The interest was confirmed not long after that when a 20-something co-worker came in with a Regina bag and she said her and her sister always have their eye out for Coach when thrifting. I see vintage Coach often in my well populated area. I would say 2/3 are carried by a woman old enough to be the original owner and 1/3 definitely a younger pre-loved owner.

I agree with you that certain styles are more readily available, such as Willis (seems to be one hot item atm) Dinkys and some others. However, many styles are simply not available and if they are, their price is way more than I'm willing to spend. In addition, as Yrelle noted, the colors of the rarer bags are limited to the blacks and browns. Often on bags in the 50-75+ price range the hangtag is missing and those can get quite pricey for the older bags. Also, larger bags seem to be more available than the smaller, with bags made in China more freely available. My sweet spot size-wise seems to be below 11x11 which severely limits my choices.
LOL and yeah those Winnies really are out of my reach

Every once in a while I might get a hankering after one bag or another, but actually, I'm quite happy with the bags I own and need to give some TLC to, just after my winter garden is in
Agreed! I wonder if any else who was caught in the abrupt change to mostly wfh found their choice and size of bags shifted. I found 8” x 11” to be my minimum pre-2020! Now I am moving to something smaller for daily use, aka my old weekend choices. I am ready to say good-by to some of my larger bags!
I am surprised at how rough the condition is for some of those black, neutral bags for $50, 60, 70. At least if one has a little rehab experience then you can gauge how well they will respond!
Oh can you stage a BOTD pic in your garden??

I have a yellow Duffle Sac that I adore. I’m normally a small bag kinda girl as evidenced by my posts in the comparison thread. So I was pretty surprised that I like the Duffle Sac as much as I do.

I found the demographics interesting. It’s probably also in part that younger people use social media more and are now exposed to the beauty of vintage coach. That was how I got hooked on rehabbing, saw a post and thought I would try my hands on it, never knowing what I was getting myself into. The rest is history! My first bag was a station bag I got for $15 on Poshmark. Now, you’d be lucky to get hangtag for that price.
