I am a thrift store junkie and it is becoming very difficult to find vintage Coach in the stores. Forget Goodwill, they stopped putting them out on the shelves long ago. Only online. I have found better luck with small church thrifts, other charity thrifts or antique malls. But they still remain hard to find in person.
I live in the San Gabriel Valley area of LA and have had no luck thrifting around here.

Yes, the Helen’s Legacy was found at a consignment shop, the Basic Bag was found at a Church’s thrift store, seems all organizations have noticed the increasing value of vintage Coach, the Michael Korrs beside the Basic Bag ($70) only labeled at $30.

Even in the new GoodwillFinds site, I’ve noticed that vintage Coach are priced higher than the newer released ones. I wonder if it will come down again at some point or will it just keep on getting pricer with time.

It sure is harder but there are still deals you could find online. It is either the seller does not know what she is selling or definitely wants to get rid of stuff.

I also had 0 luck finding ANY coach purses in the 2 goodwill stores that are available at a reasonable (~35 miles) driving distance from my home. No other thrift stores available either, so my only source really is the internet. For some reason, I do not think that the prices are ever coming back down to what they were even 5 yrs ago, so my tendencies are to grab the ones I really want, when I see them anywhere near the prices that I'm willing to pay.

For carrying purses I will hunt the vintage offers, because it seems to me that the newer purses simply are not of the same good quality. Someone on here mentioned that those vintage purses were "little tanks" and I fully agree. They might look beaten up and ugly and abused, but can be restored to full glory with some TLC. There is not much around nowadays about which one can say the same thing. Quality just simply tells.

I feel the same way about grabbing the ones I’m willing to pay the price that I find. Just got lucky on a true navy blue (not blavy) Legacy Zip for $30. I waited awhile for it hoping it didn’t get lost in the mail.

Spoke too soon about vintage Coach being hard to find in the thrifts. Found 2 today, and my sister found one too! A black Janice and a convertible clutch in what I am pretty sure is saddle. Sister found a red Sonoma duffle. I feel like I need to hide in my house now cause I have used up all my luck! LOL!!

So did I! I found a Metropolitan briefcase for $70.00 this afternoon. I think it will clean up nicely.

Saw a black Legacy Zip at my local thrift in much poorer condition for $60. I will wait for 4 weeks and see if it is still there when the price is due to come down.

I have being on a bus tour in U.S. for 10 days now. Each city I went, always used the free time to check out some thrift stores. Now I am wondering how come @Jacynthe always got amazing finds of vintage Coach bags, but I am so unlucky. So far only saw a 1999 China made black Helen’s Legacy in Albuquerque for $95, and a NYC creed black Basic bag for $70 in Durango, I didn’t buy the Helen, it was gone 30 mins later when I went back. The Basic bag is a bit more than I want to pay, but still bought it as souvenir, at least there are anchors on the dog leash clasps. These are all thrift store pricing. Price has definitely gone up.

Hello @LunaSilver! These are great finds! I was lucky enough to be exactly at the right place AND the right time (doesn't happen to me very often lol) to encounter all the bags that I have purchased. My very first was a black prairie at 3$ thus my Coach saga began. I was originally looking for parts to fix my purse, and old Tig, and was amazed at what I saw at the thrift. Unfortunately the thrift caught on after seeing so many sellers looking up purses on their phones while shopping there, (I really saw that coming and could not understand why the sellers were not more discreet). The prices are really high now and the hunt less exciting. I have lately found a couple at okay pricing but the days of the 3$ prairie are long gone. (At one time my limit was 5$ per bag then 10$, I cannot believe it now!).

It is hard to find stores that still price things cheaply. You would have more luck in smaller towns. There was a great store in El Paso the last time we were there. Actually I did great in Albuquerque in June at the St. Vincent de Paul - everything was $2 and buy one, get one free. I found 3 Coach bags, but nothing vintage. There are some bargains in Oregon and Utah. California is generally overpriced.
