I bought one of these at a good price in 2020 sold by someone who had no clue on what it was. The listing was generic like “Coach purse”. It appeared never to have been used. And I found one of those hangtag wallets in the outer slip pocket which was also like new. A little bonus! This is a great summer bag.

There were some light-color Spectators in the Spring 1991 catalog, White with Black trim or the usual Spectator colors plus Bone with what was listed as British Tan trim. Nothing specifically called Nautical but maybe that was used for the 1990 collection. I only have a few 1990 and 1991 books.

When they came out with the Dakotas and Sheridans, at least on the early ones the trim was just described as Tan, no "British" at all. They also had a small Spectator line in the 1989 Fall Preview (Shown in the Vintage Coach Catalogs thread) and Holiday 1989 catalogs that they called Town And Country Classics in the Holiday book which they described as having Tabac trim. It looked lighter than the Tan on the 1991 Spectators and a LOT lighter then the "Tan" on the Sheridans and Dakotas, at least in my paper catalog photos. But they were using some weird lighting and dark, cluttered backgrounds in some of those books too.

Remember, "The most consistent thing about Coach is their inconsistency".

Sorry, I don't have a scanner to post copies.

So - if everyone is THOROUGHLY confused, my job here is done. View attachment 5333634

Here is a catalog page of the nautical debut from 1990.

I only have one catalog page showing spectator with BT trim. It is a Broadway satchel. Most of my catalogs show tabac trim. Some of the lightweights have cocoa trim.

Something strange has been happening to me in the last month. I had a few instances of my vintage Coach bags purchases being canceled the next day with no real explanation from the sellers. I have a good purchasing record/ excellent reviews on all the resale websites. I was confused until I purchased a bag yesterday and was told by the seller in the morning that she was contacted by multiple people offering her more money that I paid for the bag. After the purchase was completed. I’m very surprised by this kind of behavior from the buyers. I’m not a morality police, but it’s a bs move. If you missed out on a purchase -move on. There will be another bag for you. Thanks for reading my rant.

I don't know which site or sites these instances happened on but most sites want to earn their commissions! But unless you (and other buyers to which this happened) report the non-completion of your purchases, whatever site(s) they were on can't know that the seller wasn't performing in compliance with the rules of the site.

Clearly, these sellers are cheating the sites because they're taking advantage of the exposure offered by the site(s) yet taking sales off-site, thus cheating the sites of their rightfully earned commissions.

And if it's a site like ebay where you can leave feedback, you should do so with a negative feedback and comment along the lines of, "Seller reneged on sale after selling off-site for more money."

But report the sellers!

It happened to me on Poshmark and Mercari. For some reason I’m more upset with buyers than sellers. But thank you for the advice. I think you are right. The only way to stop that is to notify the websites.

It's the sellers who are cheating the sites of the fees since the fees come from the sales the sellers make.

And it's also notable that if a seller is willing to cheat a site, they have no qualms about ripping off a buyer!

I agree. I would never buy anything in the future from a seller who confirmed that was the reason my purchase was cancelled. I don’t think it’s ethical. Usually I feel good when I see purchase confirmed. So far, I’ve had nothing cancelled after purchasing. The market is getting really crazy with pricing. Kind of like housing market where I live. People are paying 100k or more over asking price to get a house contract. Different situation but similar cause.

Totally! One of the reasons why we have a homelessness problem in this country. If Kardashians decide one day that they really like Vintage Coach bags we all are going to be priced out.

It happened to me. The seller claimed it was sold earlier on another site. What really happened is that after she accepted my offer, about 12 hours later if I remember correctly, someone made a better offer on another site. The reason I found out was that the other buyer was a tpfer.
