Gosh these are beautiful. My fear with the nubuc is that I’m not gentle with my bags and the nubuc shows wear more readily than the smooth leather. They’re so warm and floppy, though. I could cuddle one of them!

I also saw that the precreed duffle sac made its way to you:hbeat: I’m so glad you have a good cobbler!!! I toyed with the idea of sending it to Coach for repair but wasn’t confident due to the shop being ‘open’ but low staff and communication at the time. Cool bag, tho!

ETA: what color do you think that precreed duffle is?? I never could figure it out, but I’m terrible with colors. I would say it’s ‘brown’ haha

I think that the floppiness of the nubuc bags is the biggest attraction for me. I love a good slouch. Brushing nubuc seems to be the best way to care for it. I find that almost everything on the surface comes off with a good brushing. I have many of those old Coach suede care sets, I guess from the 90s or early 2000s. They contained a brush and an eraser in a small drawstring bag. The brush is excellent and easy to use.

That precreed duffle! I have to force myself to move out of it. My local cobbler is pricey and never hurries but a true artist. I'd call it putty. Maybe the most obvious putty of all of the bags I have that are supposed to be putty. It's the thickest leather of all of my bags. Oh dear! I think I need to take it out and move back in!

Good afternoon! I’m interested in looking for a Stewardess bag. For those who have them - do you find them functional? Or are they bulky and heavy to carry day to day? Is there a similar but more functional style I might consider? Also- are there any of the resale sights that tend to be better to find vintage Coach? Or just check EBay? ( I would definitely get a purchase authenticated first! I just don’t know enough to trust myself ). Thank you!! !

A wonderful alternative to the Stewardess is the Ranch Bag! It is slightly smaller and has the all important back slip pocket AND a gusseted front pocket! :hbeat:

Here's the one I recently restored:

I loved that duffle. For sure. It’s an amazing bag. The way the piping was tho, I couldn’t bring myself to carry it thinking I would damage it. I’m so glad your cobbler was able to help it!

I’m glad to know it’s the putty-est bag you own! That helps me identify it as a base for color comparisons. The color of that bag is beautiful.

Did you do anything with the inside rivets on the sides? They were a bit rusty for me and I wasn’t able to clean them well. Unsure if Busy Kitty was able to help them either…

It's great to have a bag that is so fabulous you have to force yourself to move out of it.

Love that they riveted the crap out of that attachment. Duffle sacs had a problem with some bags, maybe early production ? where only one rivet was used for the leather piece with the buckle.

It's funny you mentioned the rivets. The ones on that putty bag never bothered me. I didn't think "rust" but more "tarnish". I'm getting a metal tag duffle ready to sell and it has the same rivets. Photo attached. I admit they look a better, but I had rehabbed this bag. Wonder if that made the difference?

I have seen duffles with one. Not sure if I still own any--I will look. I've never had a problem with rivets letting go, but I think really loading up a big duffle with one rivet is not a good idea. I will see what I can find.

What did you use to get them so clean?? I tried Mother’s mag on the putty one but only had one go. I also didn’t try leaving it on or any other technique as I was moving and couldn’t dive into potentially time consuming tasks. I think that one pass helped but certainly not as shiny as your metal tag ones

Oh you know, the typical ones of finding a partner, buying a home, having kids etc. I don’t care for kids but everything else scares me lol! I feel like Im on a deadline sometimes & Im seriously lagging behind. On the bright side, at least I know Im not alone thanks to the internet . I hope the older I get, the more ok Ill be with the unknown .
My I join you...no partner, no children, no home of my own...and I'm 48 this year and still live with my mum.

I win!
I was under the same pressure not hitting the milestones like everybody else when I was younger. Also you do feel lonely sometimes.
Now married for 22 years, just would like to share some of my thoughts. First of all, the loneliness. A marital partner not necessarily the answer to that, at times the loneliness is even more desperate, because someone is so close yet so far, but you have to disguise it as happiness.
Then the milestones. In old times it was important for women to hit the milestones on schedule, women just daughters , wives and mothers then, they are not self sufficient. Time has passed nowerdays women are just as independent as men, yet the traditional way of thinking still put way more pressures on women, usually from family or people they close to.
I don’t regret got married, people don’t generally regret which city they choose to call home. You don’t compare Paris with Venice, there is beauty in each place, so is single or married life. So no matter where you are, just enjoy what life has to offer, be happy, otherwise you will miss out what you got in hand.
Last, you see rocks in mountain usually have their natural shapes, with unapologetic edges and sharps, then rocks in flowing river are usually smooth polished pebbles, all the corners and edges were smoothed out by time and grinding, that is what married life will do to you, lol…

Since there are a lot of backpack fans here, this one has been chatted up a few times, but I don't see it listed in any catalogs. It was made in the style of the 9315 Bleeker (which interestingly enough, I rehabbed one). I would love to find any other style from the 930, 931x Bleeker family in pebbled leather ... n/a
