1989 was a banner year for Coach. The Spectator line was introduced, as well as the Continental Series: all-time great styles like the Plaza and Court Bags.

@Catbird9 do you have any information about Legacy Spectator bags from 2001? I've just purchased this bag and posted it in the authentication thread. I have been searching the Wayback for 2001 and I have found other legacy and spectator bags; including a navy and white spectator court bag - but so far I am not finding this camel and white legacy leather bag, thanks.

thanks ...could this be why bags on ebay have gone up in price. I seen some that sellers are wanting so much for but not the condition you would pay that much for.

I think that the prices listed by coach for restored bags are crazy high, but Coach does have an advantage; they probably have loads of straps, hangtags, dyes, other "parts" lying around - and they might even have a few old-timer employees that know how to operate machines that can make/repair bags!

I've noticed the same thing with my Garcia leather 12654 Legacy Shoulder Flap, but I just jiggle it around a bit until the mag snap catches. I love that style and leather so much that I don't mind a little fiddling.

It's those blasted breakaway zippers like the one on my Poppy Tartan Book Tote 14367 that really drive me nuts!

(Sorry for the non-vintage hijack!)
There's a very simple solution. Close the zipper. Put a safety pin at the end of the zipper right before the stop. Then the next time you unzip, it will stop at the safety pin. You could also sew across the bottom of the zipper for a more permanent solution.

All the bags made at that time came in navy, wine and camel, all with parchment trim. The styles I know of are court 6870, city 9667, pocket purse 9668 and compact pouch 9669.

There is a lot of love here for the purple Garcia flap, a bunch of us have it! It’s my only magnetic close Coach (I think I still have a Tignanello somewhere with one) and when I used it for a week straight, I noticed it.
Side note I have a Bleeker Shopper on a possibly HG list and it has a break away zip, I think . . .
Re - hijacking: will allow! :P

Thanks for digging up the catalog photo, Lake Effect! And thanks for sharing your thoughts on the magnetic closure. I think I’ll take a pass on this for now, and your input definitely made that decision easier! With all the uncertainty going on I really should be more careful with my spending... unless of course if I ever come across a reasonably priced red pocket purse  thanks again.
The easiest place to find catalog pics it the AT thread
Well I certainly don’t want to discourage you, but they cycle around if you become interested down the road. Yes, hold out for a Wow! bag.
I put a low offer on a rust duffle that got sold. I loved the color and the bag was remarkably clean, but as a full size duffle, it would have done a lot of shelf time. Loved the color, but only liked the style. So $$$ not spent!

AFAIK they weren't called Legacy, just "Spectator X Bag". Here's a Wayback from April 2001 for the Spectator Court Bag.

There were a lot of Legacy and Legacy West style names in 2001 and 2002 but so far I haven't found any that were leather and used the Spectator and Legacy names together. There are a few more places I can look but it will take a while.

Agree. Am definitely holding out for the Wow! bag.
Truth be told I’m also a bit overwhelmed by the number of bags I have so I really need to stop looking!!

This is great, thanks so much Hyacinth!

I just finished looking and don't believe there were ever any leather Legacy Spectators, just "Spectator" followed by the standard style name. The Spectator Court Bag is the only one of the ones Whateve listed that I was able to find in the Wayback Machine, the pics I have of the other 3 are just from listing photos. The Court Bag was apparently from Spring 2001 and the other 3 from late winter or very early Spring, what used to be considered "resort", 2002 but made in early Winter 2001, with L and M month codes.

I had a court and city spectator, both had M 2001 month codes.
