VCA ~ Van Cleef Arpels Discussion thread!

if you're going to be in town and able to visit a local boutique, it's much better to try on different lengths that they have available because vca only offer the adjustments in specific ways - 2, 4, 6, or 8 pairs of links removed. they don't just take your wrist size and take out random amount of links. i've tried their home service kit in the past - which you can send in your bracelet directly to the NYC workshop by putting in the service request on their website. It has the same est turnaround time as if you were to drop it off at the boutique, only trade off is you can't try on the resize kits to determine the right length. if it doesn't fit right, you'll have to send it back out for another adjustment, so the back & forth may end up costing you an extra month of wait time. and if your bracelet has been purchased for over a year, each adjustment is $180. the service fee is only complimentary if you've purchased the bracelet in under year. what's your wrist size?

you can check out this thread where people talk about the adjustment options - some options would result in uneven links between the motifs, so that's another consideration:

My wrist bone measurement is 6 1/4. Thank you for the link! I’ll read up on it. I guess worst case I could take maybe 6 rings/loops out and wear it before we head to my parents at Christmas and possibly remove more? Or do you think 6 would even be too many? The bracelet should arrive by Monday.

if your wrist size is around 6 1/4", even with 4 pairs of links removed can be a bit snug (17 cm/6.7"). For reference, my wrist size is 13 cm/5", I have 8 pairs of links removed so the final length (include clasp) is 15 cm/5.9". The chains on 5 motif bracelet have the tendency to twist, making it feel more snug than say, a bangle type of bracelet so in summer months where my wrist can get a bit swollen or sticky, I added another 5mm ring to extend the bracelet slightly, in winter months 15 cm fits just fine. I think your safe choice is between 2 pairs or 4 pairs of links.

Thank you! I may re measure my wrist in the AM to get a definite measurement and go from there. I think I may have over measured as most of my tennis bracelets are 6-6.25in and are quite lose. Tired mom night time measurements are never correct lol. I really appreciate all of your advice! So helpful!! I’ll update once it arrives and what route I end up taking in terms of in store or shipping it out.

I'm new to posting. I hope I'm doing this right...I have been collecting my VCA pieces for years. Beautiful. Can I hear thoughts on the Alhambra 20 motifs white gold guilloche necklace? I can't tell if it would be too much to wear with casual clothing. I am also curious of your thoughts on the Perlee couleurs bracelet in yellow gold with diamonds and malachite. Thank you in advance!

Ohhh this ring extender could be really useful! May I know where you purchased it?

Hi. I think @lakesideohio can share some thoughts regarding 20 motif white guilloche. She posted it here:

As for the bracelet, you have to be very mindful (very demure, very cutesy) when you wear it, because you need keep water, sweat, perfume, lotion, etc. away from the malachite. Otherwise it will damage the stone. You also have to avoid exposing it to humid heat, otherwise it will lose the shine very quickly, and the stripes will kind of blend with each other. It's very delicate. It is known.

I recently purchased 20 wg guilloche and have received so many compliments everytime I wore it. It is more expensive compared to other colored stones (i.e., MOP) but it is definitely worth it. It is such a statement piece that You would enjoy wearing it. I worried the necklace might be too overpowering but it is not. I wear it formally with my work attire or casullay with my banana repulbic tshirts lol.

I always feel that at least two pieces establish a set however I’m stuck trying to determine my next pieces. Im adding the Perlee signature next year and beyond that I’m stuck. I I’m thinking I need to get wg pave pendant so that I have interchangeable piece to wear with my wg pieces. The butterflies are on my list I just can’t commit to earrings or ring so I’m stuck. Also I’m thinking I’m heading into the too many Alhambra bracelets territory as I have few SO I want to request once it opens back up.

Hello all! I’m not sure if this is the right thread to ask but I’m stuck! (First world problems) 😅View attachment 6049985
Which carnelian piece do I go for! The sweet or vintage. I love them both!!
I think they both look great! The sweet gives a daintier look and the vintage gives more color. Personally I am in camp “don’t mix metals” (although I’m probably in the minority here), so if your existing pendant is rose gold (as it appears to be), then I would go with the rose gold sweet instead of YG vintage. But that a personal decision and the colors are super close. I think you’ll be happy either way.

Vintage ✨️❤️ Carnelian, since you already have a sweet size motif and the vintage size looks great if you do stack them together or wear it on its own.
