If I were to return an item to another store... I want to ask: will my other SA find out about it? And will this mean I can’t get another “special bag” anymore?

(My go-to SA was just so excited for me and I don’t want to break his heart!)

SA's understand that returns are made. I would ask you why are you not returning the item to the store & SA you
purchased it from?
If he was so excited for you & you don't want to break his heart, perhaps an explanation would
be kind , thoughtful & considerate
I don't think 1 return should upset your history or your relationship with your SA... it's hard to be objective
about the "what if"....

Do you mean that your SA got you a special bag that now you do not want?
So you want to return it to another store so that he does not find out?

Your SA was just doing his job - offering you something that you wanted to buy.
He might feel that his effort on you behalf was misdirected, but I doubt you will break his heart!
If you are not honest, you could come to regret it because you will find it difficult to be natural with him.

Yes, they will know because they will lose the commission and the credit towards their sales goals. If it’s an in demand item they might further be annoyed that they lost the opportunity to sell the item to someone else. It’s always best to do all transactions with your SA. Also, your return will give you store credit which you presumably will be using later with your SA.

Are you having second thoughts about the birdie Lindy you posted in the recent purchases thread? It's a beautiful bag but return it if you aren’t sure. It’s too expensive of a mistake. I’d just return it with your SA and let him/her know, apologize instead of trying to sneak it around. I believe in being honest. I remember returning a bag I was hesitant about day after my purchase (this is not Hermes though) and I deliberately picked a day when my SA was off. Then the next time I saw him (some weeks later) I apologized and he completely reassured me that "you have every right to purchase AND return if it doesn't work".
I do think with Hermes B/K/Cs it can get a little tricky, sometimes *depending on what you've done* you can get a little frowned upon for returning those bags (but sometimes it's fine and they understand) - this is the feeling I got from my chit-chats / gossiping with my Hermes SA. But as long as it's in accordance with the terms for return, I say you should return it and with your normal SA.

Of course if you really really really don’t want your SA to know you can sell it on the preloved market (but you may lose some money this way). Personally I don't think that's worth it.

I was very scared to ask for a Birkin when I was finally ready. VERY scared to see the reaction.
Obviously I eventually got over it.... but it was tough at first.. to utter those words.
Yes, me too. I’m ready to buy my first Birkin and have finally asked my SA. But never got the answer from him . I think I may not spend enough.

Your SA will never be notified of any returns you make. If you’re in the US there’s 2 ways they can find out. If they go to your profile and see that something was returned or if they check for their monthly returns via the computer. That’s done for commission purposes. Most won’t care but I’ve heard a few stories where the SA contacted the person regarding the return. That should NEVER be the case. Gift exchanges or returns are a different story. I can tell you more if only you’re interested.

Actually no, not too scared. I ask my SAs everything including why FSH had those long queues, why some of my friends who are long time customers are ignored for appointments, when Lizard bags are coming and what my SAs career progression paths are. Dear OP, tell us everything you know.
So why are long-term customers ignored for appointments? I’ve tried the lottery thing and have to admit I never managed to get a slot... even on days where I dropped in anyway and made purchases.

I asked and my SA could not say why direct emails to some of my friend’s own SAs are not replied to. Fair enough. But I did ask further and he said the appointment system is random. And I believe him.

more than happy to!

And just to touch base on your other post, yes, emails are sent to different SA’s UNLESS you’re working with someone already. Appointments were at first been sent to the specialist of that particular department you were inquiring about and that proved to be a big mistake. Simple fact being that some departments have a much greater volume than others in terms of inquiries and sales. One, two or even three people just cannot manage 50 inquiries a day.

Clients aren’t ignored but rather gotten back to at a later time. If you’re a long term client your SA should be on your requests. That’s assuming they’re not B or K like almost everyone else.
