Plenty of threads on quota bags, including in different country's variables.

They are so relieved to find someone with no ulterior motive, not angling for a quota bag, that you get the best experience ever.
I have a Kelly from years ago and have tried Birkins but they don’t work for me. My city just opened an Hermes boutique and I just want to shop without the pressure of wanting an ulterior motive. Anyway, I loved the Kelly and Birkin when it wasn’t so popular and no one knew what you were wearing. Now it’s like “see what I got ha ha ha“. I still have my box calf bolide with my initials engraved and still love it the most.❤

Hi Mr. Ex,

thanks for all your input, it's really helpful :) I'm probably just being paranoid but is it alright if I order two of the same Rodeos from one account from Hermes.com? Basically, my mum thought they were slightly different but ended up buying the same thing twice in the exact same color combination. She's a bit worried whether she's allowed to do that and thinking of getting an exchange for another rodeo in different color in-store (if they have one). The payment is still pending so maybe they'll cancel one transaction? I told her that it should be fine because it's not a bag but I also do know people will step over each other to grab hold of a Rodeo as well.

What if you‘re buying place settings like 4 dinner plates. Is that included in the items that are the same?

The limits usually count towards leather goods like handbags and SLG's.

Thank you, this was helpful. So I have been told different in stores. One SA said that most bags are plain luck and it does not matter how much you spend, she also added that it is based on loyalty and appreciation to the brand, while one SA said a few purchases here and there do count if you do not frequent the store often but a lot of purchases do not count when you are in the store frequently towards a quota bag. I was quite confused what she actually meant. Are SA's technically not allowed to tell you how much and how frequently you should be shopping to be offered a bag?

Correct. They are unable to tell you shop with them only or you have to spend EX amount etc...This is why answers might vary by store/associate and why it's always indirect. One of the main reasons why I started this thread in the first place! Please spread the word lol

I was always told the SM had to sign off on most if not all Birkin and Kelly offers, at least to customers who are not very well known in a store. I've seen SAs fill out a form to be signed by a manager. Is it really 100% the SA's call?

It really is. They have the discretion as to who they petition for.

My understanding has always been that the SM must have the final approval for a quota offer no matter what, and that your SA can either offer it to you prior to approval to gauge interest, in which case you may be rejected by the SM, or the may seek approval prior and offer to you then, especially if it is something they know you will not turn down.

I have also heard of SAs fighting over bags, hiding quota inventory, et al.

The SM has the final approval. SA's only petition for your bag(s). But again, this might vary by location.

What if you’re shopping with no Birkin or Kelly in mind will they offer one if you‘re a good customer or do they wait for you to ask?

If that's the case they might just take advantage of a peaceful transaction without being constantly asked for a bag

Hi Mr. Ex,

Your mum should be ok. They're more worried about this becoming a habit and buying multiple picotin, kelly wallets, black/black rodeos, etc etc all in the same color combo. In which case you'll prob generate some interest from corporate.

The SM has the final approval. SA's only petition for your bag(s). But again, this might vary by location.
In other words, the SAs only have advocacy, not decision power, and choose whom they petition for as opposed to it being up to the SA's discretion. This is what most of us have understood to be the case.

Help needed!! So I'm thinking about the "game plan" to asking for my second birkin/kelly which I'll ask for in a couple of months (purchasing items up till then to keep the relationship warm) I don't want to seem too demanding so what colors should I ask for? I already have B30 GHW rouge casaque. Here are the two options below:

A) I was thinking of saying I would love a baby blue especially bleu brume in K25 GHW if not any shade of green with GHW would be amazing (from vert criquet to cactus) K25. That way it's one specific and one with flexibility?

B ) Or should I just ask for one color I know I'll love Craie B25 RGHW or GHW? I know this one is super hard to get though so don't want to lessen my chances and seem like I'm crazy for asking for such an item as my second offer.
If anyone has pictures of the above please post!! Thank you!! The struggle is real!!

Ahh i'm trying to score my first birkin (at Hawaii actually), and I'm so nervous to bring the subject up. Would be great if anyone can give me some advice!

1) Does leather goods (picotin) count towards pre-spend?

2) At which point is it polite to bring up wanting a Birkin/Kelly?

Well, ask for the color you love.

Great response to this question from @Israeli_Flava earlier in this thread (June 7 maybe) -
I did what you are doing now. Established a relationship..buying things without being pushy. After about 6 months (that was only bc I didn't really even think I wanted a Birkin until that long) I basically called my SA and said I was wondering if I could be added to "the list" for Gold Birkin. He told me I have to come to the boutique in person to be added to "the list". I thought that was odd but typical Hermes odd right? I wasn't busy that Saturday but it was pouring rain. I threw on some leggings and Uggs (the horror) and drove to the boutique in the rain.... and...
I WALKED OUT WITH THE BIRKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True story.
Just. do. it.

She persuaded me to summon up the courage to ask.

Hi Mr. Ex,

So based upon my reading on the forum, many have been insinuating that bag purchases don't count towards your quota or 'good purchase history'. How true is this statement? I'm not sure how this reflects on this 'wishlist' system in Europe (which I think is more confusing than not having a list at all). What's your take on the 'wishlist' system?

Hey!!
I’ super new to H. I bought things here and there but never really have an account with them or any SA. Just come in see what I see and buy. But what I heard is you need to have an account with them and a SA so that you will be able to get the bags you want. Sometimes I just shop online.
Does that online account count toward my “account”?
because with Chanel, it’s so much easier.

You should continue in your innocence and buy what you want with enthusiasm;
what you 'heard' is not helpful if it changes how you behave as a shopper - your sincerity and genuineness count for a lot

@Mr. Ex, here is my paranoid question. I am not a VIP or big spender at H, but I have a good relationship with my SA, which goes back about 4 years. I was able to place my first SO last spring (by phone/email). I have bought somethings this year but not as much as normal. Is it possible the SA (or the SM) will hold my SO until I spend enough to qualify again for another quota bag? Thanks.
