Plenty of threads on quota bags, including in different country's variables.

All items count towards a quota bag. They don't sit down, pull out a calculator and subtract whatever you've purchased online. The only issue you might run into is if you're doing your shopping with another SA. At that point they will most likely just let you shop with the other SA. If you're SA is telling you that it doesn't count it's because they want you to shop with them. At the end of the day your SA has all the discretion as to who they will offer a bag to and this is why it is important that you find someone who you get along with so that every single penny you spend counts.
Thank you, this was helpful. So I have been told different in stores. One SA said that most bags are plain luck and it does not matter how much you spend, she also added that it is based on loyalty and appreciation to the brand, while one SA said a few purchases here and there do count if you do not frequent the store often but a lot of purchases do not count when you are in the store frequently towards a quota bag. I was quite confused what she actually meant. Are SA's technically not allowed to tell you how much and how frequently you should be shopping to be offered a bag?

I was always told the SM had to sign off on most if not all Birkin and Kelly offers, at least to customers who are not very well known in a store. I've seen SAs fill out a form to be signed by a manager. Is it really 100% the SA's call?

Then it must depend on what the policy is in that store or country since it seems that in certain countries/stores it is pointed out how much to spend to buy a quota bag. I was actually offered my K28 in our old store after spending about 2000 euro. So very little money in the H world.

Yes it is certainly rather different in Europe compared to Asia. Speaking from my own experience having lived and shopped Hermes on both continents.

I got my Birkin offer from the SM NOT my SA.
Yeah, I know for a fact that in one of my stores only the head of the leather department can offer a quota bag without the store manager's sign-off. I've also seen multiple SAs fighting for clients to get a specific bag. So not all SAs have this broad discretion.

My main SA is head of the leather department but the offer was still made to me via email and SMS by the SM.

My understanding has always been that the SM must have the final approval for a quota offer no matter what, and that your SA can either offer it to you prior to approval to gauge interest, in which case you may be rejected by the SM, or the may seek approval prior and offer to you then, especially if it is something they know you will not turn down.

I have also heard of SAs fighting over bags, hiding quota inventory, et al.

So it seems that "at the end of the day", in most cases, the SA does NOT have the absolute choice. As always, everyone's experience is different, and no one is actually an expert including insiders. How many of us have heard SAs and SMs and sometimes senior corporate execs say "I'm not really sure".....?

My SM has signed off on all my offers that I’m aware of. My SA will sometimes contact me beforehand and say “hey, we have ABC coming in, any interest before I talk to SM?” I presume to gauge if it’s worth her time advocating.

I know my SM has also individually “procured” very specific requested bags for me out of some inventory in NYC (I’m west-ish coast). It takes finagling for a few months, but my SM has been successful thus far (smooth barenia B, malachite K).

All my H items get shipped to me from out of state at this point (long story). I’ve gotten into the habit of sending my SA and SM separate thank you messages as they are usually both involved, at least when it comes to quota items.

Just my experience, of course.

What if you‘re buying place settings like 4 dinner plates. Is that included in the items that are the same?
Definitely not, especially if you shop at the same store.

I can`t imagine that a dinner or coffe/tea set would be a problem. Maybe if you bought more than 3 dinner sets?
Three times the same one, more likely... if you got three different ones, no one would bat an eye. Even if you bought multiples of certain sets (the H baby sets for ex), I’m pretty sure they’d just assume you are gifting loved ones.

I know, but it’s only me and a friend maybe. I’d want to buy them gradually, not all at once.
From my personal experience, get things in pairs, in the event that your design gets discontinued while you’re buying it...
