But the point is, why would anyone be furious and ruin a friendship when someone offered to do so? Accidents happen. As long as you accept responsibility, who cares? This I think is what people are getting at when they say that friendships are ruined over this kind of thing. If you destroy someone else's possession, don't even offer to replace it, aren't sorry... It's not about the possession or the $$. It's about the lack of respect for others. As far as I can see, it isn't a matter of thinking a friend is worth less than $x.Of course, but nobody asked that.
Unfortunately, people's true colors shine through during adversity, and someone you would expect to immediately make up for your loss, someone you would never expect to blow you off in a situation like this suddenly claims that it's not her fault...go sue the other person...it's your fault for letting her use the car or the bag... That's why I don't lend anything that I'm not willing to see ruined.
