^ It's so interesting to me how many people have said that ^ kuz my mother would be the last person on Earth I would give a bag or anything I own. Chaos is her name. And she destroys and misplaces everything on her path. She's a natural disaster...

Of course, but nobody asked that.
But the point is, why would anyone be furious and ruin a friendship when someone offered to do so? Accidents happen. As long as you accept responsibility, who cares? This I think is what people are getting at when they say that friendships are ruined over this kind of thing. If you destroy someone else's possession, don't even offer to replace it, aren't sorry... It's not about the possession or the $$. It's about the lack of respect for others. As far as I can see, it isn't a matter of thinking a friend is worth less than $x.

Unfortunately, people's true colors shine through during adversity, and someone you would expect to immediately make up for your loss, someone you would never expect to blow you off in a situation like this suddenly claims that it's not her fault...go sue the other person...it's your fault for letting her use the car or the bag... That's why I don't lend anything that I'm not willing to see ruined.

Exactly! "Oh it was just an accident, why should I reimburse you? It would have happened even if you'd had the bag."

It's not that I don't loan bags because I don't value my friendships. I don't loan bags because I *do* value my friendships.

I don't believe in borrowing a handbag because too me it's just like borrowing money
-now you see it and now you don't

And the only person that I may lend a bag too would be my MIL, because she takes excellent care of her stuff

I never borrow bags and I don't really lend.
However if my mom, aunt, MIL or AIL ask to borrow no question I will hand the bag over if it never comes back I wont even fret

I rarely lend and have never borrowed, and it has only been for a one day occasion when it has happened.

Hmm just thought of something I might do if I were to lend for a longer time - only lend to people whose bags you like as well, and do a trade instead of a lend. That way you have collateral for your loan and get to try out a new bag at the same time! muahahaha.

i would only lend to my sis and another close friend cos they are both into

their bags and i'm sure they will look after them.

i would be very upset is something happened to one of my bags esp my

favourites.

dont really borrow bags except mayb i have a special event and nothing i

have goes great.

You know what? I prefer not to borrow bags from others not only because I don't want that responsibility (if something were to happen to it), but also because I honestly have no desire to carry a bag that belongs to someone else. IDK...it's like wearing someone else's clothes or jewelry, which I don't do either.
