I use the Tiffany & Co jewelry cleaner my SA gave me and it's made in England. It doesn't say what's in the cleaner and it doesn't tell me how long to leave my rings in. My SA said just drop my rings and take them out right away to brush then dry. I have been doing that once a week for months and my rings are so SHINY!!!

I use either 91% rubbing alcohol, a solution of hot water and Mr. Clean or Sparkle Sparkle Spray that i buy on Nventa.com (I buy the Platinum one).

I use any of the above with a small toothbrush or the little brushes from Sparkle Sparkle (you get them in the kit or you can buy separately).

LOVE the Sparkle Sparkle.

If I want to diy clean a piece of jewelry I soak it in some lukewarm water with a bit of dish washing liquid and then brush it with a very soft toothbrush and rinse it well and let it air dry. Then wipe it with a soft fabric and voila clean and sparkly. Also tooth paste is good too, it has bicarbonate soda in and cleans well.

LOL, I've read your blog & have been tempted by the Sparkle Sparkle!

My jeweler has always told me to use glass cleaner. I use the Simply Green brand (so hopefully it doesn't have as many chemicals!), fill up a shot glass, and drop everything in.

I leave my jewelry in there for about 2-3 minutes, rinse and lightly scrub with a soft toothbrush. Then it looks good as new!

LOL! It's worth the cost. I love that stuff. It seems like "stuff" doesn't stick as much after I use it...

PS thanks for the read :)

Does anyone know how to clean pearls? I have a pair of earrings with pearls and diamonds, and I would like to clean the diamonds, but I am afraid of damaging the pearls.

I know that Nventa makes a "delicate" cleaner and or a pearl cleaner.

Cleaning Your Pearls....

After wearing, gently wipe pearls off with a hot damp towel. This cleaning will remove body oils and perspiration, which can change the color of pearls. It will also remove any traces of cosmetics which may have gotten on the pearls. If there is a spot of dirt which can’t be rubbed off, use your fingernail. Do not use toothbrushes, scouring pads, or any abrasive material to clean pearls.

Periodic washing is recommended. Pearls can be washed in water with a mild soap such as Ivory. (Do NOT use detergent or any cleaning solution!) Use a soft cloth or a very soft brush to clean the knots in the string. After washing and rinsing, lay the pearls flat in a damp dish towel to dry. (Do not hang wet pearls - the string will stretch.) The pearls will be dry when the towel is dry. Do not wear pearls if the string is still wet. It may stretch and can attract dirt.

DO NOT CLEAN PEARLS WITH
-commercial jewelry cleaners
-an ultrasonic cleaner
-steam
-detergents
-bleaches
-powdered cleansers
-baking soda
-ammonia based cleansers
-toothbrushes
-scouring pads or abrasives
