Amazing thread! It makes me THAT much more confident when buying LV.. All the restores done with the magic eraser are actually SHOCKING, I needed to look for a long time to believe my eyes.
Great!

How about this:
I have a mono keepall with seriously water-damaged vachetta. I like patina, but there is a limit. With the (not so recent) release of Monogram Macassar, I am thinking of dying the vachetta areas black (except maybe the piping?) I think it might work. Has anyone ever tried this on an otherwise unusable bag?

Anyone know if LE Speedy bags cost more than the normal ones? I have been searching for a Watercolor Speedy, but have passed up on some because of the condition of the leather... if I can get the vachetta replaced for the same price of a normal speedy, it would make my search MUCH easier! LOL!

The retail price is, yes, but the handles and other vachetta parts on the watercolor/roses/sprouse etc are the same as on the classic versions, so the repair costs have got to be the same? A differently printed canvas won't make it more or less difficult to take apart and reassemble; if that was the case then the repair costs of monogram canvas and damier azur would differ as well...

Anyways, sorry for rambling. I hope you find "your" watercolor Speedy soon :D

(Ps. Your daughter is adorable!)

To my knowledge LV does charge different prices for vachetta replacement on LE bags. I was informed of this a few years ago, so there policy may have changed. I recalled looking through the price book and vachetta replacement and a cerise speedy was 2x the cost of a mono.

Yes that was my thinking as well, but when I read that the cost of replacing vachetta = 2/3 of the bag's retail price, it got me to thinking maybe they charge more just because it's a LE bag and you can't purchase a new one.. And thanks for your comment about my daughter :)

*sigh*.. that's what I feared. Thanks for the info! I know it's the exact same job, same materials used, but with LEs, we really don't have the option to purchase a new one, making us more inclined to get the vachetta replaced... = more profit for them. If it really would cost 2/3 of the bag's original price, that would mean ~$700 to replace the vachetta on a Watercolor Speedy. Not really worth it to me when they are selling USED ones for more than retail. I guess I'll just wait for either a REALLY GOOD DEAL (probably not gonna happen for a Watercolor, though), or just wait for the perfect one to purchase. I have so little patience, though! HAHA!

Has anyone tried to polish the padlock and keys with metal polisher? I've tried asking the SA in the ION Orchard boutique in Singapore if they could polish the hardware while I was placing my order for my Mon Monogram Neverfull MM. And she said I could just use a brass polisher as they did not have such service.. Anyone?

Haven't tried metal polisher, but I have tried toothpaste  Sounds ridiculous, and it's a bit messy, but it worked like magic. The brass was so dull looking (probably hadn't been touched since the early 90s) but after a bit of work it looked as good as new :D

Hi,
I just polished mine using brasso and it worked great!

Here are the AFTER photos. I used the magic eraser on the water marks first. Then protected & conditioned with LMB's LV kit. The vachetta is slightly darker now but the color is even and the stains are almost unnoticeable. I used a damp but very ringed out magic eraser and really went at it. Not very hard pressure but definitely went over the area for several minutes. Once the area dried, I assessed the stain and repeated the process until I was satisfied with the result. Then I used LMB's vachetta protection and vachetta conditioner creams. Now I can wear her again and show her off.
