I just love what you did with the bag! Would you mind telling me how much it cost? I'd like to replace all the leather on my mothers old speedy and make it her Christmas gift...

Hey Guys,

I need some help.
Christmas is almost here ad I want to thank my mother with a little LoVe, to be exact. She has a speedy 30 (ca 20 y/o) because it has such a emotional value i dont want to buy a new one, I'd like to renew her old one and get all the leather replaced... Do you know the costs or should I just get her a new one???

I just got my speedy 35 back from LV after having all of the leather replaced - handles, chapes, tabs, piping - everything. I worked with my SA who is also the repair manager and she quoted me $440 by adding the cost of all the individual parts. This worked out to be less than 2/3 of the purchase price of a new bag which I think is LV's policy. She wasn't sure if it would work but it did so I saved a little money there. The bag is from 1999 and the canvas was in perfect condition inside and out which is why I decided to repair rather buy another bag. When I picked it up, an SA commented on how it looks like a brand new bag. I'm really pleased with how it came out. Hope that helps you and good luck. I'm sure your mom will love a renewed bag.

carrolch - your rescue looks stunning. Replacing the leather and hardware is a great way to extend the life of a bag - especially if it has sentimental value. Congrats!

I have a Cabby Noir large does anyone else have a problem with the denim wearing like an old pair of jeans and how much is it to repair? The mustard lining pops out and I feel embarrassed to carry it, it makes it look like a swap meet knock off not the real deal. All of the pleats have worn holes. I don't use it everyday once or twice a month for 2 or 3 days. Why does it do this?

To answer a previous post regarding replacing the leather on the Petite Noe: I took mine to our new LV store and was quoted 600.00!!! I contacted Barbara at LMB's and she said she could clean it up for 275.00-Will let you know how it goes!! Thought the SA was trying to discourage me from replacing the leather, telling me how beautiful the patina looked. Has anyone used LMB to restore thier bags??????

TIA

It looks wonderful! Great idea to replace all the vachetta! Congrats:smile1:

i just cut the magic eraser into little squares, soaked, and then wiped. I let it dry and then wiped again until i felt i was satisfied.

HI! How much pressure are you using to rub off the grime? Also, is it better to cut it up into squares so that the product doesn't overwhelm the bag or is it just easier to clean with smaller pieces? :thinkin:

At first, I used gentle swipes. After it dried, I became a little impatient and got a little aggressive. Lol. I figured, it was already bad so I couldn't make it any worse. And the cutting of the eraser was mostly just to not waste the whole thing and it was more convenient to use little pieces.

your bag is lovely. i have a question for you. the made in tab on the end? when that gets replaced is it where the repair is done? so for example. if your bag was originally MIF but they repaired it in USA, would the tab now say MIU? let me know!! thanks!!
