Hi everyone! I purchased this gorgeus vintage LV Thompson Street but, as expected, it has a lot of marks and stains. I tried to embrace it but it is just too much for me... So I'm here asking for advice! I have seen many DIY projects of dying vernis leather and decided on Fiebings black dye - as it's the safest and easiest option for a beginner like me. Nail polish remover with acetone for the prep. I've read many mixed opinions on finishes - some add a finish, some don't. What is your experience? What type of finish? Is a leather balm or a water repellent a good enough of a finish? Also, wiping off excess dye is a must. So i'm wondering, is it enough to wipe it with a paper towel or rather baby wipes (containing alcohol or alcohol-free?)? And my last question - is there a possibility that the vernis will turn out sticky? That is probably my biggest concern...

Hi everyone! I’m happy to find this thread. I purchased a vintage Petite Noe and the canvas is in lovely shape but the handle has some light cracking. Can this be helped and stopped if I condition it? Or will it just continue to get worse? She’s from 1990!

Finally at a point that I feel finished working on my vintage Speedy 40. She's over 40 years old, date code indicates she was MIF February of 1984. When she arrived, her hardware was tarnished, her leather - dry and cracked, and the canvas was dirty and dull. Using these products, a ton of cotton rounds, q-tips, and elbow grease, I rehabbed this beauty. I still plan to try and do something to fix the cracked/faded glaze on the handles, but I'm not quite sure what yet. Open to suggestions if anyone has attempted a fix like this before! Perhaps the most satisfying part was "erasing" the scuff marks with the eraser.

There was even a spot I thought the canvas was worn away in the listing photos, and when I received it, but after cleaning it I discovered it was just verdigris and it came off! I ordered attachable D-rings and a strap from amazon that are supposed to be here this weekend, we'll see how it goes converting it to a crossbody!
